My Black Dad & Obama
The American Thinker ^ | July 08, 2010 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 07/08/2010 3:39:33 AM PDT by Scanian

I am a black tea party patriot faced with a serious problem concerning my 83-year-old father. Dad is an extraordinary man whose life epitomizes the greatness of America.

In the '50s, married with a wife and three kids and employed as a laborer, Dad was among the first blacks to break the color barrier into the Baltimore Fire Dept. The white firefighters treated Dad like scum and boldly displayed their displeasure with having an "n" in their firehouse.

Dad was the young associate pastor of a storefront church. He treated his "haters" with love and strove to be the best Christian and firefighter he could be. Dad won "Firefighter of the Year" two times and eventually the respect and admiration of his white fellow firefighters. A white firefighter who once threatened to punch Dad in his "black nose" risked his life by going back into a burning building to save Dad. The two firefighters became lifelong friends.

One of my ultra-conservative Christian friends told me that he believes it is G_d’s will that Slobama is the president. He said G_d runs everything for a reason. G_d help us then.

Great article!

It is nothing short of bizarre that black Americans (and others) support Obama because of his race despite his dishonesty, his own personal racism toward others, muslim leanings (if not muslim faith), and hatred of this country.

Considering that black Americans are themselves shocked by such devotion, how could Obama know in advance that he would gain such blind support?

During the campaign I was almost certain that Obama was using various hypnotic techniques (like NLP) but any advantage gained by that should have worn off by now...yet many of his "zombie-like" supporters have not wavered.

I am still deeply perplexed!

I have faith that still surviving deep within dad's "Obama Zombie" brain is the wise, wonderful, righteous, and Christian man I have known all of my life.

The son can't change the father in this case because the father's conviction is based on emotion and nothing else. My mother-in-law is like that. She's over ninety. I can talk to her about any issue and she is a conservative Republican. I doubt she has ever voted Republican and think she never will.

There are other things that also drive a thinker crazy. The bottom line is the old man won't change. I'd be tempted to avoid politics in his home although feel free to try to sway any of the masses the outside his home.

Allowing a rift with the old man at this late stage won't change anything. Ther will just be a rift.

Perhaps *Love letters to Lloyd’s Dad* expressing admiration for the wonderful son he raised might be the answer.

I was unaware that my son’s best hunting buddy was black until he showed me a photo. Both Southern boys....!!

Prayers up for Papa Marcus.

It may be God's will in this sense...
2 Thessalonians 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:9

[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth...

Those who blindly support Obama such as Lloyd Marcus' father are not doing so because he is a Democrat.

They are doing so because of his skin color...and at that they are allowing his skin color to blind them to all of his baseness and dishonesty.

Lloyd, I will sincerely be praying for the Holy Spirit to reach the innermost part of your dad's heart, soul and psyche and heal the wounds and bondage he still has and set him truly free.

I also will be praying for you to hear the Lord and speak and act with wisdom as it is a tough thing to know the how to work simultaneously within the two ways Jesus mentioned:

Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Luke 12: "51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.

The truth is that 91% of black voters want to enslave the white race because of slavery. The black panthers say so... the black Congressional Caucus says so... and obama says so in old interviews... but of course with obama you have to read between the lines in his old interviews... but racism is there and rampant.

“Democrats have always gotten 90% or more support from blacks regardless of their race.”

It's not hard to understand. They are no different than any other voting block of DemonRATs.
Take any group of like individuals. The group doesn't have to be linked by race, it could be economic status, the type of work they do, any common factors will do.
It's fairly easy to convince them that some other group has it better than they do. From there, it's a fairly easy task to get them convinced that it's the other groups fault that they are “disadvantaged”, because it goes against human nature to examine ourselves for weaknesses and faults.
Once the animosity is created towards the “other” group, you can buy off their loyalty cheaply, using other peoples money, with a few “social programs” that do nothing for them and only make them more dependent on handouts. Which flow from DemonRATs only, of course.

Classic Allinsky.

Obama's rise to power has certainly brought to light the deep-seated anger many blacks feel toward whites and Jews.

And the funny thing is that the whites and Jews to whom they direct their anger had nothing to do with the discrimination which sparked their anger in the first place.

This anger is nothing more than misdirected rage fueled by the likes of Jeremiah Wright. It's the moral equivalent of saying "I hate you because your name is Johnson...and a man named Johnson once discriminated against me (yes, I realize you are not related, but I still hate you)."

And, yes, given that Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth (and then some) on every issue, one has to carefully read between the lines to determine where he stands on any issue.

And, yes, when one parses all that Obama has said and compares that with his actions, it is profoundly obvious that Obama is every bit as rage-filled toward whites, jews, and Europeans as his "mentor" Jeremiah.

Unless or until there is more internal debate within the DNC, this will go on.

I have always observed that Republicans challenge each other perpetually on economics, education, abortion, trade policies, foreign policy... and do so publicly!

Yet, for the most part, the DNC rank and file never disagrees with each other or deviates from that archaic and reactionary philosophy. Nothing ever changes … so minorities who LOVE claiming their DNC affiliation, are perpetually dissatisfied in ways and to an extent so fundamental and predictable that you would almost believe it is planned!!!

In every national election (and ALL the time in between) we hear so much about how minorities are oppressed, exploited, cheated, underserved…etc. It never occurs to them that if they truly believe they are SO badly treated and HAVE been for decades, there ARE alternatives to this demonstrably failed DNC agenda.

The DNC has succeeded in convincing these minorities that:

• Yes, you ARE being cheated, oppressed, exploited…etc.
• Yes, ONLY the DNC can change this
• Yes, Republicans are all ‘racist’ and perpetuate every form of ‘oppression’
• NO, just because we have been coning you without results for 50 odd years with this same scam, Republicans are lying when they call us race pimps

GREAT- You ARE oppressed and only WE can change this!!!! VOILA… the birth and eternal DNC custody of rank and minority file voters!! (The process is like growing mushrooms: Keep them in the dark and throw s&^% on them)

I don’t know about you guys, but if MY political party betrayed me consistently and with calculated intent, I’d say it was time to think outside the box. Though I am not totally satisfied with the GOP, I don’t believe they deliberately cultivate generations of emotionally maligned and socially stunted minorities just to secure a voter base.

The DNC is much more like a cult than a political party!

BTW-I don’t believe minorities in the U.S. are badly treated and THAT particular DNC lie ought to be directly targeted. I never go to a hospital, University office, classroom, corporate office, etc., that I DO NOT see many and various minorities widely represented!!! This is ONLY possible with very fair, direct and equal access to economic, social, educational, etc. in our society. So stop the f&*&ing whining!!!)

Mr. Marcus, your father sounds like a truly remarkable man. You are fortunate and blessed to have him in your life. He actually FOUGHT the fight which resulted in Mr. Obama being able to be where he is today.

You wrote: "It appears that no amount of truth will penetrate the wall of affection Dad has for the historic figure he never imagined would exist in his lifetime."

That may be the crux of it right there. Your father, at 83, never thought he would see the day when America would elect a "non-white" president. Your father endured fear, intimidation and hatred in order to achieve his dream, and to help pave the way for Mr. Obama. He bravely and honorably faced those challenges, realized his dream, raised a good and honorable son, and along the way he helped change peoples' minds about him and those like him.

That being the case, it must be VERY difficult for him to face the facts regarding what Mr. Obama really stands for. It must feel like the most vicious form of betrayal. Any disappointment you, I or anyone else may have in this president must PALE in comparison to that felt by men like your father.

I would not count on him to admit to anyone that he was mistaken about Barack Obama, but I suspect your father already knows the truth about him. So, please, don't "confront" him on the issue. I think you should just continue to treat him with love and strive to be the best Christian and son you can be as you gently make your case with him.

You might just be surprised what lever he finally decides to pull when he goes behind that curtain in 2012.

And you think they would be supporting a black republican?

I think your comment misses the point Lloyd Marcus is making (as am I).

This isn't about politics...it is about the irrational, almost hypnotic influence race has on certain people.

The choice is NOT such that a rejection of Obama is an automatic vote for a republican. The blind Obama supporters consider ANY criticism of Obama and his agenda to be racist...that includes the Hillary supporters.

Listen again to what Lloyd says...

Now, here is my problem I mentioned: Dad loves Barack Obama, a man whose philosophy goes against everything I thought my dad stood for...

Dad believes all criticism of Obama and his agenda is racist. It appears that no amount of truth will penetrate the wall of affection Dad has for the historic figure he never imagined would exist in his lifetime.

Good point. Lloyd before confronting your father you may want to find out his thoughts on Clarence, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. If he does not Thomas’ veiws/overall mind set or if he does agree with Jackson/Sharpton then you are most likey only going to cause a rift with your father. It would not be worth the loss of your relationship with your father. If he does agree with Thomas maybe you can use some of that mid set in your conversation. Thomas was smeared by the radical left wing of the black establishment before and during his confirmation hearings (leading the way--as covered by Glenn Beck last night--was Harvard lawyer and radical leftie Charles Ogletree).

My guess is that Obama has created such a zombie-like following that only black radical left members of the Democratic Party would qualify for potential support.

Even centrist Democrats like Harold Ford would be deemed racists if they opposed Obama.

Dear Lloyd, sometimes you just have to love and let be. Maybe you can change your dad’s mind, but don’t count on it. He sounds like a very tenacious man, for that and his stand against the tyranny in his own life, he deserves credit and even praise. Folks who have invested emotionally into anything, particularly religion or politics (which has become a religion) do not often admit to being dooped, even if in their heart of hearts, they begin to figure it out.
I have a sister-in-law who is a devout christian woman, but is also a feminist progressive... she is emotionally invested into social justice, is anti war and considers others who don’t hold to her views as lessors and red-neckish. I have had my arguments with her but realize that all I can really do is love her the best I can. I know where I stand and I know where she stands, we are opposing forces on the idealogical political battle field. She is my arch enemy philosophically and I seek the destruction of her progressive influence in out culture, but as in war, humane treatment of the enemy is imperative for those whose cause is righteous. So I will love her but I hate what she stands for, and I must wait on God to work things out.

Yep. The NAACP retained Ogletree to write their position paper on Thomas...and that's where things went South.

Ogletree gave the NAACP all reasons they should oppose Thomas and that was the turning point.

BTW, Ogletree then went on to represent Anita Hill in the hearings. Ogletree also taught Obama and Michelle at Harvard Law, is a good friend of Angela Davis, and is linked to the New Black Panthers.

He's a dangerous person.

It is nothing short of bizarre that black Americans (and others) support Obama because of his race despite his dishonesty, his own personal racism toward others, muslim leanings (if not muslim faith), and hatred of this country.

You tax your self unnecessarily. His supporters are the same as he is. Simple.
