At about 7:30 pm the police lines started moving the crowd back. Their plan was probably to disperse the crowd before darkness fell. Right now the Marine Layer is moving into the area, so I am guessing the helicopters wont be much help tonight. The police line ran into some resistance right next to a subway entrance. Real fighting between police and demonstrators. At that point police numbers were as large as demonstrators, so the fighters were arrested by police. Then the main group of demonstrators ran up to the police and there was a standoff between a larger group of demonstrators. Then the ABC 7 copter had to go back for fuel.

They had a chopper up earlier but it got too cloudy for them apparently.

ABC 7 is supposed to go with live coverage at 9 pm. Just 15 minutes. I am getting Deja Vu. Wish we had this type of police response during the last LA riots. But heck, LA is Norte Mexico now.

Sounds like the riots are beginning.

If I'm not mistaken, riots in Oakland are described as spontaneous urban renewal.

If the riots get big enough, they could cause many millions of dollars worth of improvement there.
