The Illinois Democrat candidate for Senate, Alexi Giannoulias, wasn't too keen of admitting it but he was in Vancouver, Canada over the weekend at a fund-raiser at a trial lawyer's convention. Along with a dozen other Democrats, the candidate was in Canada to rake in thousands in donations from trial lawyers who know what side of their bread is buttered, for sure.

But suffice to say that the Giannoulias campaign did not report the whereabouts of their candidate until the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a press release urging reporters to grill the Giannoulias campaign...

Hmmm...I don’t recall that he’s ever been in my neighborhood, but then again, folks around there don’t have that kind of dough.

I thought so too. Here in Canada, not only is it illegal for foreign residents to give $, it is also against the law for foreigners to participate in election campaigns- I’m still PO’d that Michael Moore wasn’t charged when he did a campaign appearance in Toronto.
Isn’t that illigal since this would be Canadians giving CA Dollars instead of American citizens?
It was an American trial lawyer convention being held in Canada, not Canadians giving to the Amer. politician.
