“This is a first for Apple. Give Apple CREDIT that it is addressing the issue RIGHT AWAY.”

Right away? The issue was identified right after release. A senior Apple engineer told Jobs about it before the phone was released. They’ve been selling people a $30 solution to fix their problem.

Compared to what has been going on in the Gulf of Mexico, what Apple did would be considered FAST.

Sheesh. Rush needs to visit MacRumors. 100% of iPhone 4s can experience the problem. Even Apple fanbois are ticked about it.

I have had every iPhone since the beginning. I have 3 iPads. I cancelled my iPhone 4 order when they came out and said the problem with the iPhone 4 was simply the signal display. I remember when they messed with the signal display 2 years ago, magically improving the "bars" on everyone's iPhone. Now they are "shocked" that they got that wrong.

If they come out today and say that it turns out their "magical" device's hardware mistake can be fixed by software, my suspicions about their style-over-technology arrogance will be confirmed.

Kinda picking a low bar there. Compared to Jimmy Carter's effort to rescue the hostages in Iran, Apple is moving like lightening.

APPLE seems to have dropped the ball on this. One rumor had it that during BETA testing, users phones had a “border” around them to prevent others from observing the new phone. This “border” acted as an “antenna” of sorts. Thus giving false readings. No idea if this is true or not.

APPLE’s failure to put BLU RAY on their new Macs/MacBooks/etc. are hurting them as well.

Uh, they lied about it at first, and Jobs gave snarky responses about “holding it the wrong way”.

And it’s been how many weeks?

Problem is fixed! iOS 4.0.1 has a new icon set so that the lowest signal strength bar is now twice as high as it was before. See, your reception is better already!

I’ve seen in various sources including CR, that touching the gap between the two metal bands on the phone will decrease the signal 20 dB.

If you live in a metro area with multiple close, strong signals, you may never notice the loss. That does not mean that there is not a loss or that it won’t be a problem when leaving an area with good coverage.

I really like Rush but he is off base.

You have it backwards. After the fix, no matter where you are, you only get one bar which obviously means the problem is with AT&T.

Interesting comparison, would appear to me to be irrelevant though.

Apple BETTER fix the problem or the company could face the wrath of the FTC. I don't think Steve Jobs wants to deal with the FTC and have Apple's legal department tied up for years.

Ohhh that solves it, Rush said the problem doesn't exist. That's gotta be what the press conference is about.
Rush is NOT technically gifted, that's why he drinks the Apple kool aid. Did he relate this info to boast about his gift giving habits?

Apple iPhone 4 antenna retrofit kit:

Carefully wrap around perimeter of the iPhone, covering the metal band.

Like I said before... I just repeated what he said. Seems like a good opportunity for you and others to call his show today and challenge him on it.
