What no Papa Titus?! He’s got to be on the list somewhere, not sure what he was best at, but he’s one of my all time favorite TV dads.

It was very bleak! I did like it but it made me sad after watching. In fact, several other apocalyptic movies have made me sad after watching: Children of Men, I am Legend. I did, however, enjoy Knowing.

"Col. William Ludlow" I second that nomination!

I can't believe they left of Lucas McCain.
Personally, I find that the best formula for being a dad is:
One fourth Lucas McCain
One fourth Andy Taylor
One fourth Al Bundy
One fourth Homer Simpson

I’d vote for him over Andy Griffin anyday.

Best TV Dad of all time? Red Foreman. End of discussion!

The book is a masterpiece but, wow, is it depressing. I can't bring myself to watch the movie.
The book "No Country for Old Men" was far better than the movie. The movie just did not capture the central thesis-how bad things really are for a guy as tough, proud and patriotic as the sheriff to quit.

best substitute dad: Uncle Phil from fresh prince.
should get an honorable mention for best protector: max brennan from bones. protects his kids from murderous bank robbers, and later in life from corrupt fbi deputy director- whom he stabs, disembowels and burns as a message of warning not to mess with his kids.

I hope you have seen Keach playing a different dad, the gay father of one of the babes on Two and a Half Men. It is a hoot.

Keach is excellent, haven’t seen him on 2 1/2 Men but seen him in plenty of stuff. Great in comedy, great in drama.
