Posted on 07/19/2010 7:51:53 PM PDT by Bigtigermike
OK, so what's going on here? Why would the New York Post print a story stating as a fact that Sarah Palin's daughter was pitching a TV show without bothering to get confirmation from any of the alleged stars of such a show? They certainly must have trusted their sources. And who would those sources be?
One online commenter said of their reunion, "When you have no way to come up with $1,700 a month in child support . . . and there aren't any other jobs out there . . . options are limited."
Hmmm. "One online commenter"? Better make that one anonymous commenter at a notorious anti-Palin blog:
I'm reproducing the screen-capture of that comment because I don't want to link the blog -- which is the same blog that pushed the "Palin divorce" hoax in August 2009!
Yes, that's right. A mere anonymous commenter at the "Immoral Minority" blog (operated by a disgraced former kindergarten teacher) qualifies as an authoritative source for the New York Post. How so? Apparently, after posting that blog comment, the commenter was quoted at the Gawker gossip site last week.
As I remarked last week, some reporters seem to have added a special clause to their ethical code for all stories relating to Sarah Palin: Any "source" is acceptable, so long as the source is anti-Palin.

There were some people here on FR who wanted it to be true.
The MSM can no longer be trusted to get ANYTHING right
Of course..the ones that absolutely hate her and obsess everyday about wanting her life to be a living hell..yeah I read the posts..so all this BS about a supposed reality show came from some loser who sits in his mama’s basement looking at pictures of little boys..WOW..I wonder if those same people that trashed Sarah’s family and called it a “Train wreck” will apologize for believing such phony baloney crap
Oh yeah. Big time.
But the bottom line is that because he’s such a scumbag, people thought it could be true..Hey, it’s not out of the realm that it could have happened. I’m glad it didn’t, because that would have sunk her.
Far too many of them are right here on FR.
Oh...don’t get us wrong, Levi is a bad guy and is not trust worthy and it’s sad that Sarah has to deal with him because of her daughters emotional attachment to him...but there was a certain glee from the same ole’ types that always bash Sarah and claim that she isn’t a christian enough.....Blah, blah, blah. Bet you this thread won’t reach 100+ post like those others....
“””There is a lot of public speculation that Bristol and Levi have signed up for a reality show about their relationship. They have not,” Palin’s rep tells Us. “While several networks have pitched different concepts, Bristol has not agreed to participate in any show. Her focus remains on doing what is best for Tripp and her family.”
“”Money certainly talks. Our sources estimate Us Weekly paid $100,000 to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston for the story on their engagement. The cash not only bought an exclusive interview with the couple, but also screwed competitor People. The single mom gave interviews to both magazines, but didn’t tell People about the engagement or that they’d hidden their reconciliation from Sarah Palin.
Bristol lied to People: “We’re not totally back together, but I’m not ruling it out . . . I don’t want to get into what’s in store for our future because, who knows?” But Us Weekly knew. Bristol hid her left hand in the People photo shoot, though proudly revealed her ring to Us Weekly. An Us Weekly rep said, “We were approached by Bristol and Levi to break the news, and we didn’t pay $100,000.””
Given the nature of our boy Levi, we'll get a reality show whether or not it's broadcast. With him there will always be a story.
So will any Palin haters post this story multiple times from different sources?
No? Didn’t think so.
Well, actually, the New York Post doesn’t usually behave that way. And they are not Sarah bashers. So I was taken in by it. I wouldn’t have put it past Bristol’s former fiance to do something like this. And as I said, if Bristol agreed, you can’t really blame Sarah for it. Not even the best parents can help it if their kids grow up and decide to do something stupid.
I’d still like to see a little more in the way of certainty from a reliable source, but on its face, this looks like good news. I didn’t want to think that Sarah had lost a daughter.
You would think that the Sarah haters who were quick to use this hoax to trash Bristol and especially Sarah would apologize for jumping their gun and their vitriol. But nope, they are just waiting in the woodwork to jump to next BS story that comes along to show “their superior intellect” and vent their animus.
MOST people here on FR wanted it to be true.
Of course they won’t back track all of the things they have said......at the very least they could acknowledge that this is a good thing for the child’s sake and at least this girl hasn’t gone “completely” off the deep end yet.....But they alas they are savoring their time for the next big scandal!
One would think they would have learned from the last Palin-is-doing-a-reality-show hoax, but one needs to consider the problem.
Don’t feel bad, a lot of people got that information FROM multiple posts on FR.
I’m a little dissappointed at how our side has been so much more willing to believe anything they read these days.
Maybe it has always been this way. But i started noticing it during the 2008 election season, when all the people supporting different candidates were happy to spread any crazy story they could pick up about other candidates.
You’d think after all the “Trig isn’t Palin’s kid” stories that we’d know better, but there isn’t always a lot of critical thinking here.
Just look at all the money-blogs posted as news/activism, or all the stories about the BP well collapsing into a worldwide methane explosion.
But only because Palin endorsed McCain. Before that nobody could say anything bad about Palin here without a threat of banishment.
Now she’s fair game for any rumor or innuendo that can be dredged up about her.
It’s remarkable how an unsubstantiated rumor that appears on a web site can somehow get passed along as news in fairly mainstream media outlets.
I suppose it is true that a lie can go around the world before the truth even wakes up in the morning.
The fact is, the dominant media and the folks that are negative about Sarah Palin will jump at the chance to tear her down, and the facts and truth just aren’t important.
I know some folks come down hard on young Bristol Palin. She seems to be a fairly average young woman of her age and experience - she has a disconnect between reality and her self image. But that is unremarkable. What is remarkable is that she is the daughter, and single mom, of a conservative leader. She seems to be maturing and I wish the best for her and her child. If only those who are negative about the Palins would show some class and restraint.
You aren’t the only one. Freepers are willing to dismiss as untruthful much of the news media’s stories and yet jump on other stories as gospel.
But didn’t TMZ have the story first and quote unnamed entertainment industry sources to whom it was being pitched?
There are some folks that deserve to be face down eating gravel in a parking lot somewhere.
Every story that may be spun as negative about Palin, they post it with a perverted sense of glee. And then they promote somebody like Duncan Hunter or Newt “cheat on his wife while she is dying of cancer” Gingrich. It is disgusting.
Yep.....they constantly trash Sarah as not being Christian enough, and not taking care of her family but then say s that Newt is the guy or something........yep right on the mark,
“MOST people here on FR wanted it to be true.”
No, just a handful of dirtbags.
“There were some people here on FR who wanted it to be true.”
And where are they now? Searching the internet for the next anti-Palin bogus story to post on FR.
What does the engagement of her daughter have to do with Sarah Palin running for president? If a conservative had written anything similar in reference to the Obama children, he would be referred to as a bigot, a racist or, heaven forbid, a tea party activist.
There were some people here on FR who wanted it to be true.
And you can see who exactly they are right here on this thread, starting with the nororious “pissant” who seems to be the first to find and post these stories on FR. pissant is a Duncon Hunter fanatic bent on destroying Palin.
Newt is their man ! This is the kind of vermin people promote within the GOP establishment.
Newt on why he wanted a divorce from Jackie: “She’s not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of a President. And besides, she has cancer.”
Source: Katharine Q. Seelye. “Gingrich’s Life: The Complications and Ideals.” NYTimes.com 11/24/1994
Pissant desire nothing to do with women period....Palin,Haley...etc
Some type of aversion..or something
>>> Maybe it has always been this way. But i started noticing it during the 2008 election season, when all the people supporting different candidates were happy to spread any crazy story they could pick up about other candidates.
Look to the Giuliani purge for the tipping point. Afterwards and increasingly the vacuum those sensible posters left was filled with Birchers, paulists, and more general nut-types. Sarah is too much a RINO in their eyes. So anything goes.
Of course Reagan would be RINO too. And probably Goldwater as well.
“People” is far too nice of a tone... political hack operatives... that is more descriptive of the members that promote these lies and distortions.
I understand that Todd took him behind the woodshed... it will only happen once... if it ever happens.
tmz lied then... remember that next time you read any of their tainted words.
Like I told somebody, if one has questions about Sarah’s mettle... that is find and legitimate, If they think there might be someone better than Sarah to beat Obama that’s find with me as well....but when they attack Sarah by MSM lies and hit jobs....I question them!
There are a few FReepers who act like libs on this board, they even attacking Sarah more than they ever will attack Obama
Believe me, I wish and hope that is the case. But more likely the Post was just going out of their way not to give credit to TMZ as their entertainment gossip competitor. Here’s today’s denial in the Post— http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/palin_family_refutes_talk_bristol_PwQHpBw8yENbig67GKkadO —which is almost Obama-esque in denying that they had signed to do a reality show (the actual stories were that they were talking about various possibilities) and saying that the networks had pitched to Bristol. (Which means she was talking with them.) The good news seems to be that she’s been reeled in and is back on the reservation at least as far as not having signed a deal at this time.
But the fact that Griffin knows “nothing” about the Palin’s and is a Palin-hater blogger who lied about Todd/Sarah getting a divorce....I’m sure that the networks push a reality show and Levi/Tank Johnson probably saw a money scheme but the truth as a whole is suspect...we don’t know
Griffin is undoubtedly foul and isn’t going to miss a chance to broadcast as much embarrassing news as possible about the Palins—whether it is true or not.
But that’s not the same as the TMZ story which said that multiple network sources had told them about Bristol and Levi pitching various possible shows to them. Yes, most everyone who works at TMZ is likely to dislike Palin and want to sensationalize whatever tidbits they get. But because Griffin has a version of it doesn’t mean there isn’t something to a regular media outlet’s reporting.
There ARE some liberals on FR... always have been.
Newsweek has a piece on parenting tips for Sarah, no doubt in response to the “reality show” lie.
You're right. Had I posted the comment, I would have only called them trolls.
That will work!
