Sherrod: "We Must Stop The White Man And His Uncle Toms ..."
First, a note of heartfelt appreciation for Joan Walsh of Salon. Her moving post on Charles Sherrod - in defense of his wife, Shirley - provided the inspiration required to dust off my Google skills. I simply had to fulfill her stated desire to share the actual words of Civil Rights icon Charles Sherrod with her readers, so touched was I by her profound tribute. And she's been swamped on TV, justifying Shirley Sherrod calling Fox and Andrew Breitbart racist. I can only hope she will be kind enough to direct her readers here, so we can all share his unique wisdom on race relations together, as one. That is, after all, the way it should be, is it not, Joan?

You know, Eric Holder must be pinching himself that this Sherrod story took the place of the root issue, that of the New Black Panthers voter intimidation dismissal of charges due solely to their color.
Recall, Brietbart was trying to expose inherent racism by the NAA(L)CP in the face of their charges that the Tea Party was racist (without a shred of evidence). The NBP story had become the face of racism when the NAA(L)CP tried to point the finger at the Tea Party.
"We must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections. We must not be afraid to vote black. We must not be afraid to turn a black out who votes against our interests."
Let this be a “teachable moment” for all those on the right who rushed to defend this woman before getting all of the facts about her.
Sean Hannity should be a footnote in your book, Kristinn!
This strategy would serve well to "out" the racist hucksters hiding in plain sight among democrats.
Maybe one day...
I can’t quite figure this out, so please someone enlighten me: If Shirley Sherrod was involved in a law suit against the Federal Government for racial descrimination against farmers, why was she ever hired to work for the USDA? I realize this was a new appointment, but wasn’t she working in some other capacity for 20 years or more? Isn’t that what she said - that years ago she didn’t want to help that white farmer but over the years learned?
I am pretty sure the WH knew Shirley’s background and it was this knowledge that lead to their speedy dismissal. Now that they have been forced to re-embrace her in order to burnish their racial bonofides with the Brown Rainbow, they now live in fear of not being able to control the story. It seems the word has been sent out to all those paragons of objective virture (WAPO, NYT, assorted alphabet soup Networks) to blame Brietbart. Funny how quickly the likes of Ms. E. J. Dionne are able to write up a racist hit piece when called upon. Methinks, a few well placed video quotes from the Sherrods is in order. I wonder if there is any certifiable audio of the august Mr. Sherrod speaking? An interview or two with young Kenyatta and Russia are certainly in order here.
LOL, nice.
Nope, she is definately not an inbred racist and bigot...nope. =.=
I think Sean Hannity is a contributor, too, but Kristinn has Zing!
Incisive!
And thank you for introducing me to the term "Brown Rainbow".
Charles Sherrod: “We must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections.”
The Sherrods also have a daughter, one with a rather interesting name. Pretty cool naming your kid after the Berlin Wall coming down, right? Well, not quite, unfortunately.
Son Kenyatta and daughter Russia defended their mother from charges of racism which led to her resignation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture position as director of its Rural Development program in Georgia on Tuesday.
And thank you for introducing me to the term “Brown Rainbow”.
You are welcomed. Maybe someday we can have multi colored rainbows for all. I want all the little Russia’s and Kenyatta’s to celebrate diversity.
Must Read ping!
Video at link of Charles Sherrod..the racist marxist and a ‘founding father’ of the Black Panthers.
There are videos of Mr. Sherrod at the link.
Blacks have had plenty of chances to develop commerce on their own and failed as compared to many other groups, pleading their case against, "the White Man and His Uncle Toms." He makes an appeal to racial solidarity and the evils of others. "Trust each other", he says. If that was going to happen it would have by now.
You can be down and out, an oppressed minority and still make it big in America. Don't believe it? Get a bunch of Italians, Jews, Pakistanis. Throw in some Irish and some Mexicans, or some Caribbean Blacks as a bunch of impoverished immigrants in the United States and in ONE generation they will be out of poverty and in the Middle class or better. They will be doing business among themselves and everybody else, with more success and a lot less whining.
’ If Shirley Sherrod was involved in a law suit against the Federal Government for racial descrimination against farmers, why was she ever hired to work for the USDA? “
The timing of the settlement was 24 hours before she was hired to work for the USDA.
It looks like giving her a job could have been part of the Sherrod’s demands.
There seems to be little information and much speculation on just what the Sherrod’s did with that 13 million.
In addition to the $ 300,00 they personally received.
An audit would definitely be in order.
Imagine the reaction of the media and the Democrats if George Bush’s Agriculture Secretary gave a couple who routinely made anti black comments 13 million
and then hired the wife for a cushy job.
