Back in May I posted a report on what seemed to be a fake tea party group circulating petitions in the state of Michigan to get themselves recognized as an official political party.
The group circulating the petition, Progressive Campaigns, Inc., had long-time connections to the Michigan Democrat Party and at that time no one in the various Michigan tea party groups had any knowledge of this new so-called Tea Party petition effort.
Now the Detroit Free Press is reporting that a United Auto Workers union member named Mark Steffek has filed papers with the state announcing that this so-called Tea Party has had a "convention" and is fielding a slate of candidates for the 2010 elections...

A couple of these candidates won’t even be old enough to hold office if they managed to get elected.
Personally I’m not worried about them because we are so aware but I would like to see some criminal charges pursued if at all possible.

David Polzin, a Tea Party candidate for the state House who lives in Menominee, said the party "isn't part of the tea party that has Sarah Palin and all those people" but a new organization not controlled by special interests.
Hmmm...looks like David Polzin's "heroes" are JFK, Bill, and Hillary. Sounds like a real tea partier to me!

They just announced on the news break here in Grand Rapids, MI that 2 of the “tea party nominees” for senate were not old enough, so they get tossed. I hope no one is fooled by this, the real “Tea Party” doesn’t have nominees, and is not a political “party”.
Its getting enough news attention here in Michigan that I doubt they’ll have any effect on any of the races.
Personally I think Jenny Granholm should be pressured to look into criminal charges for those candidates who aren’t legally eligible to sue. It seems to be a pretty clear effort to fraudulently influence the outcome of the election.
