It would be easy enough to starve out the cities.

“When services are cut and the dependents start wandering out into the land inhabited by the producers to take what they think they deserve, then the shooting will start.”

First they will burn their own cities.

When you see the cities on fire it’s time to move to Utah

Exactly. DO NOT, repeat DO NOT go to Northern Idaho. Especially Coeur d’Alene. There are no firearms dealers, no wild game, no freshwater lakes and no one has the means to defend themselves here...I mean there.
CDA is a hotbed of radical liberalism and will likely be easily run over by hoards of city bred entitlment zombies.
You have been warned!

Food is actually the biggest advantage of the rural community. Aside from the obvious use of starvation as a weapon there are the secondary effects. If you try to move the farmers off the land, the city people starve. That doesn't mean they won't try it. The socialists did it in Russia, Zimbabwe, Cambodia and almost every other place they took over. And starvation in the cities always followed. In addition it limits their ability to use NBC's. After all who wants to eat food grown at Chernobyl. The cities need to capture the countryside in a usable state. The countryside just needs to destroy the cities. And anyone can tell you it is much easier to destroy than to govern a hostile population.

Your #25 properly questions the lack of wisdom inherent in adopting the CW model used by backward, less technical societies.

I’ll add it seems unwise to equate physical defense of the Constitution as a civil war.
We certainly do not regard violent, but appropriate law enforcement as civil war.
The Constitution is the high ground, and we own it.

The wrinkle comes when, during the sensible approach you advocate, those both internal and external who hold an anti-American agenda employ 3d world Odinga-like tactics.

Unfortunately, and without addressing here the means they could employ, it seems likely they could obstruct the controlled excision we would like to see.

You crack me up Laz. I would prefer to live in a semi-rural area with armed-to-the-teeth combat veterans as neighbors.

Fair point: I thought I might be on shaky ground when I said it.

I still think Arizona will be the focal point, and the rest of the CONUS will be quiet - except for those parts of CA which rely on Arizonan energy and water.

Other critical factors to consider, generally speaking:

- The Conservative side of CW2 will mostly be better armed (quality and quantity), have experience with those arms (hunting, range time, etc), have prior military service (fight tactically and effectively), and be thinking long-term (restoring the Country)

- The Liberal side will mostly be caught ill-prepared arming themselves at random (quality and no experience issues), likely fight impulsively as random gangs (no formal training in organizing and tactics), and fight for their own personal short-term gain at the end of each battle (hamper their Statist leaders' goals)

In the end the Liberal side will not have the brains, stomach or heart to continue the fight. Their unconditional surrender will be the final nail in the coffin of Socialism/Statism in America.

I’m guessing that this parallels the thinking of the Roman leadership, and population - the day before the Vandals came knocking at the gates....

>the proper approach would be to disregard side issues of race, ethnicity, rural or urban and focus on the nuetralization of the string pullers and their nomanklatura who are the architects of the new American gulag.

Because “side” issues are exactly what is driving this invasion and the “hope & change” takeover of America.
To disregard it is to put you in your grave.

It's not a good analogy.

The Roman Empire fell because it had a hollowed-out middle class, and a hollowed-out military. Its founding principles of civic virtue were eroded by the pauperising effect of the public dole. Its wealth-producers were taxed to death, and state spending was completely out of control.

See for instance this excellent resource from the aptly named Cato institute

Big state socialism caused the fall of the Empire. It's no accident that centuries later the Roman fasces - the axe and stick bundle - were adopted as part of the symbology of Mussolini's socialist state.

A great many Roman Citizens were glad to see the Vandals, because it meant they were no longer prisoners of the state!

"Unfortunately, and without addressing here the means they could employ, it seems likely they could obstruct the controlled excision we would like to see."

You make good points in your reply. Of course, the commies may resort to brutal tactics of mass punishment. After all, that's their model for societal control.

I'm by no means an expert or especially learned in this area but I think that, given the general American character, they would have trouble recruiting and controlling military or police personnel to commit atrocities on the scale needed to cow the population. I could be wrong on this point but I would hope not.

The traditional defense against cell structure action groups that are implied in our discussion is infiltration. If the authorites can mobilize enough resources to efficiently infiltrate and nuetralize these cells quicker than they can be formed and put into action then they may be successful in obstructing their usefulness.

But this is all theoretical speculation and who knows what may happen in the future and what events may lead to their necessity. Equally, who knows what the outcome may be.

The primary problem is that there will not be front lines. The enemy will be mixed among us, and in many cases be indistinguishable from us.

Finally, someone on FR who understands the dynamics of the Fall of the Roman Empire!

I am constantly dismayed by the lack of understanding of the root causes of that fall.
H.G. Wells has a great chapter or two on this subject in The Outline of History

Thank you for your post

Mr.Bracken,

The real story behind the Journolist revelations is the **hate**. The members of this private list **hate** conservatives with a white hot passion. The real story is that they would KILL us if they could. They just can't get away with it...( yet).

The real story to be learned from the Florida 2000 recount was that Democrats **are** Marxist-fascists who will do **anything** they can get away with to gain and hold power. They are not people of good will with a desire to make the system work. Instead they will work the system to destroy conservatives, and they would KILL us if they could. Again, they just can't get away with it...(yet).

By the way...My brother ( who is 73) lives on Frankfurt Ave. in Philadelphia. Each year the inner city blight moves a little closer. His long-time girlfriend ( in her late sixties) owns a home in Drexel Hill, Pa. Her neighborhood is rapidly changing to black. I have been urging them for years to move. They won't though. They are like frogs sitting in slowly warming hot water.

I'll be in my grave soon enough as it is, thank you. So you would recommend fighting all the drones rather than just the commissars?

I don't see that as a particularly good use of resources. Why mess with the sheep when you can have the shepard?
