Letter: Palin would have fixed spill quickly
The Evansville Courier & Press ^ | July 31, 2010 | Richard Pfeiffer

Posted on 07/30/2010 10:50:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin would have had the Gulf oil spill under control two months ago. The well would have been back in production, the environment cleaned up, punishment meted out, the fisherman back to fishing and tourists back to touristin'.

Instead, we have an inept, incompetent and corrupt administration that had not a clue of what to do.

They are so far left, it takes the Hubble telescope just to see them from here. But then again, why solve a problem when you can milk it for all it's worth to promote your own socialist agenda?

Blame someone else or distract from some other failure. Why solve problems when you party, travel, vacation, golf and apologize for America? Sensible people are seeing through this "two-faced" policy of increasing taxes, huge spending and destruction of capitalism.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Politics
KEYWORDS: golf; obama; oilspill; palin
We'll soon see, if I have my way.

The well would have been back in production,

Lost me there. The well casing early damage precluded production. It was always going to get shut down, regardless of who was the front man on the beast.

She probably would have called in Chuck Norris, because he could have not only captured the leaking oil, but refined it into gasoline and sold it to the Arabs.

Baloney. Engineers solved this problem, not politicians. They just get in the way.

I don’t think the fundamental involvement of the engineers is in question.

I guess what I am saying is that regardless of who was President, it would not have affected when the actual flow of oil would have been stopped, but it definitely could have affected the skimming and cleanup efforts.

Sarah, being the oil woman that she is . . . why didn’t she go right down there, put on her waders and help solve the problem immediately. Did she offer? Was she refused?

This is only speculation, of course, but I’m more inclined to think that Palin would’ve been far less likely to delay/block what was done compared to Obama.

How easy to say when you are not in the position. People say all the time that they could run their business better than their boss’ but people don't have the full picture. If this women thinks she is going to just step into this job and have a smooth time, she is doing some good drugs.

She’s not an engineer. If she were president, then she would’ve had the authority to use what and who she knows to deal with the situation.

Do you really think Obama wanted her involved? He certainly didn’t take her up on her Facebook statement:

“Please, sir, for the sake of the Gulf residents, reach out to experts who have experience holding oil companies accountable. I suggested a few weeks ago that you start with Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources, led by Commissioner Tom Irwin. Having worked with Tom and his DNR and AGIA team led by Marty Rutherford, I can vouch for their integrity and expertise in dealing with Big Oil and overseeing its developments. We’ve all lived and worked through the Exxon-Valdez spill. They can help you. Give them a call. Or, what the heck, give me a call.”

I take exception to your statement that the Zer0 Regime had no clue what to do. If this had been a nuclear submarine grounded on the ocean floor, loaded with nuclear warheads, there would have been a flotilla of ships and specialized equipment getting that sub back to harbor immediately.

The Zer0 Regime knew what to do. They were going to let this oil spill create as much havoc as possible so that the “Drill here, drill now” crowd would be shut up for good. I am not going to labor the point with reams of material to support my charge. The facts are there and everybody should know about them.

In so many areas the Zer0 Regime is sacrificing the lives of so many citizens for the sake of political advantage. Look at the Arizona situation with their law to combat the illegal invasion. The Zer0 Regime is engaged in a systematic obstruction of justice to keep this nation's laws from being enforced. This could get a president impeached. This is the same thing as keeping the oil spill from being contained. In one case it is all to promote more future voters from illegals who will vote Democratic when ACORN (or La Raza) gets them registered to vote. In the other case, it is to keep down our ability to enhance our domestic oil production and render gas driven cars obsolete due to the skyrocketing price of oil.

“The well casing early damage precluded production.”

While I suspect there might be some damage, I'd like to know how they came to that conclusion and considering the amount of money that wells capable of generating I'm not so sure it's a right off.

Yah, I think a normal president would have had skimmers operating very quickly, sand berms up, waiver of the coastal laws against foreign shipping, and waiver of all the wacky regulations that got in the way of cleanup (did you know that the clean up crews on the beach had 15 minutes on and 40 minutes off or some such ridiculous rule?).

The spill would never have been as big a deal and it would have bought the time needed to get this done.

Seems like the administrations lack of response to leaks of any kind shows how the destruction of all foundations, economic, military, social, etc. is the real agenda. America must fight this destructive agenda in all ways possible on her own. America is being set up to fall.

As for Sarah, or any true American, she would have done something besides play golf, even if it was to just get the skimmers in from other nations.

Even his fawning media could not get in there so how the hell was anyone else? Hmmmm?

The moment I saw the “cap” device I knew right away this whole saga was a giant scam. That thing and all of the associated control cabinets placed near the BOP were designed long before the explosion. Some have said that many of the components were assembled quickly from known systems, but there is no way that the entire system was designed and tested before it was dropped into the scene and after the “top kill”.

Because of BP’s coziness with no only the Obama administration, but also one of the industrial leaders to make a killing from the cap and trade bill, they milked this whole thing from more than six months before the explosion. Investigation testemony so far made public has confirmed that BP knew there was a problem and refused to authorize Transocean to add the additional equipment to deal with it.

From my reading, Sarah never made this comment so assault the integrity of the author for making a leap if not a veiled dig at her.

I could care less if you like her or not, but there is one fact you cannot deny, she knows one hell of a lot more about the industry than Obozo could ever dream of reading about it on the TOTUS.

Of course they were. That is not evidence of some sort of pre-arrangement. It's more like keeping a jack, a lugwrench, a spare tire, a jug of 5W-30 etc. in the trunk of your car; you hope never to need them.

I trust and hope that other companies have similar items ready to go in case one of their wells goes blooey.

This is a letter to the editor from some guy, not a letter from Sarah.

Government interference.

Enviro-weenies.

Moon in Capricorn, or wherever-the-h311 it is.

Do you really care, or are you just looking for someone to bash?

If you had told me the hole would be stopped in +/-100 days and that two weeks later they’d be actively searching for oil to clean up, I’d have told you “dream on”. As it is it’s a marvel of private sector engineering IMHP.

Not bashing anyone other than the govmt. The fix was in and I totally understand our power of ingenuitive engineering as I make my living at it. The only thing that gets in our way is our wonderful government.

Come on, now. This is just silly. Likely Palin might have managed things better than Obama, but the claim that “[t]he well would have been back in production, the environment cleaned up, punishment meted out, the fisherman back to fishing and tourists back to touristin’” just has no basis in fact.

How about lets leave the pretending politicians are superheroes crap to the Democrats.

Yes and yes. She first suggested Obama call her and then she said if he didn’t want to call her he could call the people she worked with in Alaska, who are experts in handling the logistics of a spill.
