A while back, I mentioned a secret place where true treasures can occasionally be found. Maybe this is the time to clue you all in on this place (and places like it).
Most people have stuff theyd like to get rid of. And not everyone has access to a Good Will or Salvation Army drop box. And while most churches still do run thrift shops, they can be a pain about the merchandise theyll accept as donations. But our town, here in our little slice of heaven in New England, has a dump. Only we call it a transfer station because thats what the sign says when you drive in.
And adjacent to our transfer station is a little place called the Treasure Chest, where folks can drop off used but usable items to be shared with the community and the wider world. And its the place where people come to poke through those drop-offs to see if they can find anything useful...

In my town it’s called “the secondhand shack” located at the town’s recycling center (dump).
My dada was infamous for returning from the dump with more stuff than he had dumped.
Heh heh heh. I always try to drop off donations BEFORE I pick up stuff.
BTTT
Must have been related to my dad. While he would drag home everything from clothing racks to cinder blocks, his true area of focus was in lawn mower parts....
