U.S. Sends Ambassador to Hiroshima Ceremony: Revisionist History You Canít Believe In Ė Videos

Here are video reports on today’s observance in Hiroshima, Japan of the 65th anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb by the United States on Japan. President Harry Truman made the decision to drop the bomb after warning Japan repeatedly the terrible weapon was coming and would be used if they did not surrender. Truman dropped the bomb to avoid an already planned invasion of the Japanese home islands that would have brought an estimated 1 Million+ U.S. casualties, and even more Japanese casualties.

Yet, despite the obvious historic justification for the dropping of the bomb, President Obama becomes the first American President to send the U.S. Ambassador to Japan to attend the ceremony, which is always very heavy on disarmament talk, and victimhood for the Japanese.

It is ridiculous for Obama to send a U.S. representative to this ceremony as if we have something to be sorry for. Let the world remember that Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor, brutalized all of Asia and our own American troops captured in the Philippines and elsewhere, and refused to surrender though repeatedly warned that a “terrible weapon” was about to be used upon them. Truman did exactly the right thing in dropping the atomic bombs on Japan.

Imagine if he had not, and one million Americans had been killed or wounded when it was in his hands to prevent it. Truman understood that he was “President of the United States,” and that his first responsibility was the welfare of America and her citizens. He was not interested in being “President of the World” – unlike The One.

President Obama and the revisionist historians may try to forget the truth, but there are still millions of Americans who will not.

And the other thing the world should remember is we occupied Japan in a way that resulted in a free, prosperous, responsible country. And we spent a lot of US treasure doing so.

The basis for Japan's recovery in the early 1950s was our nearby action in S. Korea.

What the peaceniks forget to consider is that dropping the A-bombs on Japan not only saved the lives of American British and Russian service men but if we had not dropped the bombs, the japanese people and all of their culture would have ceased to exist. We would have literally had to destroy everthing and kill every man woman and child on mainland Japan to achieve victory.

Obama’s a total @ss.

Few people in Japan are really pushing for some kind of US show of regret, most Japanese recognize the importance of a stable and calm relationship with the USA, and in a few more years, this will have simply passed into the history books as is.

So Obama the dumb@SS community agitator starts creating news, debate, and anger where there was none before.

You’d think that growing up in Hawaii our Pres’ent would have a sensitivity about Pearl Harbor that other people his age might not possess. But, here again, he demonstrates his tone-deaf big ears.

He may or may not have “grown up in Hawaii.”

It is my understanding from what I’ve read about Japan’s Hiroshima ceremony, that it is strictly a whining and posturing bit of nonsense about how they were victims that day, with no mention at all about what the Japanese armed forces had been doing for a decade or so before that bomb was dropped. - That they can even engage in such hypocrisy says a lot about them.

Obama continues to show his true colors for any who are paying attention.

Excellent job on correcting the spelling of the office of POTUS. "Pres'ent".

I will be using this corrected spelling until we have a real, legitimate President again. Thanks!

Who cares what this fool says. He is a disgrace to the office he holds. And his successor will, by the Grace of God, reverse everything he is doing. The first thing he or SHE will have to do is fumigate the White House to remove the treasonous stink of him and his loathsome wife.

Honestly, I can't bear to look or listen to him anymore.

We would have literally had to destroy everything and kill every man woman and child on mainland Japan to achieve victory.

If you want to sense a real felling for what an invasion of Japan would have been like, visit Okinawa and absorb the history of the last major ground battle of WWII.

Not one single thing, living or man-made was left standing on that island that was over 24 inches high.

Underground Naval Headquarters of the Imperial Japanese Navy, was where mothers handed their babies over to Japanese soldiers to "quiet" them with their bayonets so as not to expose their hiding places. Once the inevitable was realized, the officers went into rooms and pulled the pins on grenades to kill themselves. Most pock marks from grenade shrapnel on the walls are in the upper half of the rooms as the bodies piled up.

Peace Prayer Park at the South end of the island has steep cliffs where islanders, told to fear the blood-thirsty Americans, leaped to their deaths.

It was opened on June 23, 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Okinawa. Set inside an expanse of green lawn, it consists of shoulder-high black granite slabs with the names of all 234,183 people who died in World War II fighting: 14,006 American troops, 82 other Allied personnel, 75,219 Japanese troops and 148,289 Okinawans (most of them citizens).

Himeyuri Peace Museum (near Itoman) memorialized 203 teenage nurse's aids who were killed during World War II. Many killed themselves after being lead to believe they would be raped and tortured by American troops. The memorial contain pictures of those who died.

Chibichiri Gama (southern Okinawa) is a 100-foot-deep limestone cave, where 87 people died included 47 children on April 2, 1945, after American soldiers approaching the cave and shot and killed two boys who charged them with bamboo spears. American soldiers pleaded with the civilians to come out and dropped leaflets in Japanese that said they wouldn't be harmed. The people didn't believe them. Japanese propaganda had led these people to believe that suicide was better than capture and torture by American “devils.”

The slaughter begin when an 18-year-old girl shouted, "Mommy, kill me! Don't let them rape me" and her mother obliged, triggering a mass killing in which parents slaughtered their children with knives, sickles, flaming oil from the oil lamps and then killed themselves.

The cave was opened to the public in the mid-1990s. There is a stairway that leads to passages where the 140 civilians hid. Most of the remains of the dead were taken away by relatives, but a few bones were left behind as a reminder of the tragedy. There are large bones near the mouth of the cave. The interior—which is said to contain the small bones of children— is closed off to let their spirits rest in peace.

Most telling statistic from the Battle of Okinawa - there were less than 8,000 Japanese taken prisoner.

Other stats for comparison: The number of total casualties has been estimated at various times since the bombings with wide discrepancies. The Manhattan Engineer District's best available figures are:

TABLE A: Estimates of Casualties Hiroshima Nagasaki
Pre-raid population 255,000 195,000
Dead 66,000 39,000
Injured 69,000 25,000
Total Casualties 135,000 64,000

Those are facts. They mean nothing to leftscum.

If we would have had to invade, Japan would still be a largely depopulated wasteland. After losing 1,000,000 plus troops, America would have been in no mood to rebuild. Scortched earth would have been demanded by the public.

These people are stupid, ignorant, and delusional. IOW, typical leftscum.

In very large part this is true. Most folks are unaware that because of the absence of sealift, transports from the US were reserved for tanks, artillery, ammunition. While jeeps and deuce and a halfs were manufactured under license in Japan by Toyota, Honda and Nissan. Facilities were modernized and Detroit methods were employed. All of which in a sfew year began to turn out Datsuns and Toyotas for Japan and later the world.

My dad worked for the US Army’s Japan Procurement Agency and we lived in Japan in the 1950s when I was a little kid.
Dad told the story about how representatives of Isuzu called on JPA buyers, asking to build something—anything, to get the company back on its feet.
The JPA guys turned over a “brand new” 1949 Dodge Duce & 1/2 to Isuzu and said if they could build them, the Army would buy them.
Isuzu copied every nut and bolt on the Duce and for several decades, “Japanese Dodges” were part of the Army fleet. They were still running when we left the Philippines and were left behind in Viet Nam.
Until just a few years ago, Isuzu told this story on its website, crediting a handful of unnamed DACs at Japan Procurement Agency for the survival of the firm.
