Hello Patriots in Freeperland !

As the title suggests I am Dr. Bill Escoffery III. One of my advisors suggested I create an account on FreeRepublic and open the floor up for any discussions about my campaign for U.S. Senate. So here it is.

A paid adviser? But Escoffery is a candidate for a national office. If David were a paid adviser, a disclaimer message is required for any messages posted in favor of the candidate. I hope he isn’t so he doesn’t get the candidate in trouble.

I have posted several times that I am a PAID advisor, I have been paid EXACTLY $1 for my services — a check that I have not and will not actually cash :) as “disclosed” right here on FR. I asked Dr. Escoffery to send me a check for $1 so that I could honestly “SAY” that I am a paid consultant when asked, for several reasons.. :) I was getting tired of everyone telling me that I was ONLY supporting Dr. Escoffery because I was being PAID to support him... therefore I asked him to “pay” me for my advice so I can honestly CLAIM “paid status” the truth is obviously that I support Dr. Escoffery becuase I think he is best person for the JOB.. not because he ran the best campaign. Have you ever hired someone to do a job based on their AD CAMPAIGN just to find out that they ran a great AD but their PERFORMANCE does not actually reflect their ADVERTISING?

Saying it in a post after being hounded by others if you are a consultant may not be protection for your candidate.

You wouldn’t be sued, what you could do is harm your candidate by giving ammunition for a challenger to post a FEC challenge/complaint against him. It isn’t how much he pays anyone, it is how the campaign is run. This is the basics like putting on your seat belt before you drive.

The dollar was for a one time fee for my advice given on a single phone call. Which WILL be claimed on his FEC filing. So I am sure we are in FULL compliance. I do appreciate your advice on that.. if you send me your address I will be happy to send you a personal check for $1 to pay you $1 for it. :)

you have to be statistically significant to be in the polls.

I believe you have to be over 1% to be part of the poll.

In the last general election, alan keys who has some name recognition hit 8,000 votes.

your candidate with no name recognition.
a regional local part time exposure.
no campaign aparatus to speak of.
no money
no volunteers

probably does not even break 0.01 percent.

Don't do that, man.

Your Christ is just like CA's Schwartzie.

Work for Rubio and don't make the CA mistake. You WILL get screwed. Just look over to the other coast to see what happened here. Think it over a little more.

And thanks for sitting in our AIP America’s Summit hot seat and taking questions last week. Click on my screen name, which will take you to my homepage, and you’ll know who I am. :-)

UPDATE FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL: 10 August 2010

We visited the Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL.

This is a delightful 425 acre, gated retirement community just south of Orlando on a golf course. It is run with great precision by The Lutherans & includes a Nondenominational Church. (I’d even like to retire there myself! Maybe I could work part-time in the medical Clinic?)

As the photos indicate we arrived safely and were welcomed by Hob-Nob Organizer George Weber. The "Ambience" was a little different since this was not an exclusively Republican event. A couple folks were highly supportive of Obama AND Obama-Care, but obviously didn’t know what it entailed. Even more dems confided that they were fed-up and have had enough of "Change You Can’t Believe A Word Of" that they may vote for me in the general election if my fellow Republicans support me in the PRIMARY. Yet another, confirmation to me that I will be able to defeat BOTH Crist and the DEM Nominee.

Les decorated our table with her usual elegance and we had six minutes to talk from the stage. We met numerous enthusiastic voters before and after our speech, handed out a ton of literature (EVERYONE wants the "Citizen Rulebook" with founding documents! One lady is even going to put them ALL OVER THE LAUNDRY ROOM!) I wonder if Tom Jefferson could have anticipated that folks would read all about him while sitting beside The Maytag?

As usual, no Marco.

Bill.

(I really apologize for these lengthy replies ... why doesn’t someone just ask me a simple question, like what would be the FIRST THING I’D DO IF ELECTED?)

With regard to allegations that I and my medical-political group “COSCO” (The Medical Chiefs’ of Staff Coalition) closed down Emergency Rooms in South Florida in the late 1980s, let me respond:

Right off the top, let me confirm that the (unavoidable & unfortunate) outcome of our reluctant actions did indeed result in the closure of certain E.R.s (in Dade County mostly, as I recall) during 1986-87.

Let me qualify my answers with a few caveats: 1) These activities occurred approximately 23 years ago; 2) I have a filing-cabinet full of data from that era in storage either in Shalimar, Florida or Muncie, Indiana in regard to those issues pending my retirement and assumption of a third career as an “Author”; 3) I am currently on the Campaign trail, do not have access to any of this data and cannot unequivocally recall the details of those distant events.

However, the background is important: A Medical Liability crisis was “Full steam ahead” in Florida. Racketeering plaintiff attorneys were ripping off the Med-Mal insurance companies with a variety of contemptible schemes to “Stick-Up” doctors and hospitals for unwarranted “Malpractice Awards”. A typical scheme would involve suing a half dozen or more Physicians and a hospital or two for some minor untoward medical outcome – oftentimes due to the patient’s non-compliance as much as anything else.

In such an instance, the Med-Mal insurance carrier would be looking at defending a handful or more of “Providers”. Such defense costs could total tens of thousands of dollars per each covered entity. The Insurance carrier could do the math: eg., six doctors and a hospital at say $30,000.00 each = >$200 Grand. Plaintiff offers to settle for a hundred grand. Carrier escapes the possibility of a large “Pain & Suffering” award which could total millions, saves a hundred grand in defense costs; and therefore mandates that each Doctors’ policy pays out less than 15 grand – a mere “pittance” – to settle.

And the Stick-up artist banks a big number for the cost of filing a few papers! (Under the U.S. “Contingency Fee” arrangement the lawyer gets a third of the profit, often after deducting “expenses.”) What a scam!

Meantime (and remember this was almost a quarter century ago! ... Figure the cost in today’s dollars): OB/Gyn specialists & surgeons were paying more than $100,000.00 (1980s dollars) for annual Liability Insurance Premiums; General doctors like myself were being asked to pay somewhere in the region of 30 Grand P.A.; and I knew a Neurosurgeon who, as I recall, was facing a $250,000.00 annual premium! For only three “events.” It was truly sickening.

We had to fight this situation; and of course we doctors took great financial & license risks by covering trauma and acute care in the E.R., which was often the “venue” for the commencement of these cases! Hence many of us stopped covering our particular E.R.s. As I recall Jackson Memorial Hospital remained active providing back-up coverage throughout the period.

I – as I am doing now against “ObamaNation” – came out of my private life to fight the crisis. I founded and chaired a large Medical Organization named “COSCO” to fight the fight. We agitated for Tort Reform, gave the Plaintiff attorneys a tough fight, lobbied in Tallahassee and withdrew ER services. (Mostly to protect ourselves).

As I seem to recall saying at a national interview, on either “Good Morning America” or “The Today Show”: ... “The Doctors of Dade County are devastated” at having to undertake this action. We were indeed saddened. But what to do? It was a tough time. Many of us left the state after this concluded. I went to Law-School, partly in response to my experience in this conflict.

We need to access those National T.V archives from 1987 I think it was; and I will try; but frankly I am too busy right now trying to Save America!

Maybe some of you “Oppo. Research” folks could do us all a favor for once and find those archives to authenticate the events of my distant leadership role. No point asking Marco about any of this though ~ I guess he was only about 15 or 16 years old at the time!

Anyone think a little experience and maturity could go a long way to help solve Florida’s problems now?

And finally, let me say that, if elected I pledge to attempt to do the same thing to the Federal Government that my group is alleged to have done to Florida’s E.R.s — SHUT THEM DOWN!

Bill
