What do you do after you run New York City into the ground? You teach at Columbia.
David N. Dinkins is Professor in the Practice of Public Affairs, his faculty website proclaims. He also serves on SIPAs Advisory Board, chairs the Earth Institutes NYC Sustainable Development Initiative, and hosts the annual Dinkins Leadership and Public Policy Forum.
In 2003, the David N. Dinkins Professorship in the Practice of Urban and Public Affairs was established at Columbia University. The 106th Mayor of the City of New York, Mr. Dinkins began his career in public service in 1966 in the New York State Assembly. He was president of the New York City Board of Elections, then City Clerk before his elections as President of the Borough of Manhattan in 1985 and Mayor of the City of New York in 1989.
Mayor Dinkins instituted Safe Streets, Safe City: Cops and Kids, the model criminal justice plan for reducing crime and expanding opportunities for the children of New York City, and established the Beacon schools. If you were going to do a movie about Dinkins singular term in office, you could give it a one-word titleExodus.
Malcolm A. Kline is the Executive Director of Accuracy in Academia.
This is practically a guaranteed retirement program for democrat pols (who attain a certain degree of prominence). That and the usual board memberships and advisory positions on the usual lefty charities and non-profits. A place to have money stuffed in your pockets for a few hours of work a week.
I remember the book about Giuliani’s mayoralty “Prince of the City”. Dinkins called himself a “tribune of the underclass”. The Crown Heights pogrom and riot were the apotheosis of his administration. Eventually, even the gangbangers were laughing at him.
Academentia at its most egregious level.
ruling class taking care of one of their own...
Dinkins...responsible for a pogram against Hassidic Jews..
