Barbara "Hair on Fire" Espinosa of Scottsdale, AZ is down on the border today along with some 500 other Arizona citizens, at a Tea Party rally in support of Arizona's SB 1070 Immigration Law.
Barbara is on private property, just west of Naco, and described her position as about 100 feet from the border fence. She says, "Right across from the border fence where we are, the property belongs to the drug cartel and the area is used to transport drugs and humans into the United States.
Senate candidate JD Hayworth is there and has been talking to the ranchers in the area. If has pledged that when he's elected, he'll do "whatever it takes to protect the borders and the American people." 16 Tea Parties across the state have endorsed Hayworth.
Barbara reports there is significant media coverage, and estimates up to ten media outlets covering it on the ground and from helicopters overhead.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be speaking as will Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce (author of SB 1070). Sheriff Arpaio has endorsed both Hayworth and Vernon Parker, who is running to represent AZ's CD 3 - John Shadegg's seat.
The rally is expected to last most of the day. I'll be posting on it as she calls in with updates.
