Wednesday's Wall Street Journal dubbed Zoltan Mesko the NFL's most interesting man. Mesko was a 10-year-old immigrant to the United States from Rumania. He played high school football and attended the the University of Michigan, where he also played for the team as a punter. He signed on with the New England Patriots after they drafted him in the fifth round of this year's NFL draft.
Mesko hasn't even made the team yet, but it wouldn't be right to quibble with the premise of the Journal's story. The story by John U. Bacon is a terrific profile of Mesko. FYI, the article was posted yesterday, I believe. And GO BLUE. This will be the year RichRod and the Maize and Blue silence the critics.
I was hoping the Giants drafted this bada$$
We’ve been having a family get together the Saturday before Thanksgiving, to get that side of the family together. It features lots of food and watching the OSU-MI game.
As the son of a player on Woody’s first Rose Bowl team, I have to say I’ve generally enjoyed the last several years!
not a problem. U of M and Michigan players need all the good press they can get!
If you haven’t heard, there are plans to move the game to an earlier date assuming the Big 10 splits into two divisions. UM and OSU would be in separate divisions thus making the change. I guess I don’t care when they play just as long as they play. It’s always GREAT football.
I had NOT heard! Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll have to alert the cousin who sets up and hosts this event, she may not know. I’d guess that’s at least a couple/few years off, as far ahead as these things get scheduled.
And 2nd the “great football” sentiment.
I cannot comprehend why people keep calling that country “Rumania” when it’s “Romania”. Ugh!
