Obama Knew He Was Killing Thousands Of Jobs With Drilling Ban – Went Ahead With It Anyway

Two months ago Federal Judge Martin Feldman threw out the Obama ban on deep-water drilling citing the huge effects this ban will have on the regions economy:

The court is unable to divine or fathom a relationship between the findings and the immense scope of the moratorium.
~~~
The blanket moratorium, with no parameters, seems to assume that because one rig failed and although no one yet fully knows why, all companies and rigs drilling new wells over 500 feet also universally present an imminent danger.
~~~

An invalid agency decision to suspend drilling of wells in depths over 500 feet simply cannot justify the immeasurable effect on the plaintiffs, the local economy, the Gulf region, and the critical present-day aspect of the availability of domestic energy in the country.

A new report today from the Wall Street Journal not only backs up Feldman's claim of a destroyed economy, but also describes how Obama knew....absolutely KNEW....that tens of thousands of jobs would be lost and they still went ahead with the ban anyway:

Senior Obama administration officials concluded the federal moratorium on deepwater oil drilling would cost roughly 23,000 jobs, but went ahead with the ban because they didn't trust the industry's safety equipment and the government's own inspection process, according to previously undisclosed documents.

[snip]

We can't be shocked after he killed thousands of auto dealership jobs:

Everything you need to know about the nightmare of government-controlled businesses can be found in a damning new inspector general’s report on Dealergate. The independent review of how and why the Obama administration forced Chrysler and General Motors to oversee mass closures of car dealerships across the country reveals grisly incompetence, fatal bureaucratic hubris and Big Labor cronyism. No wonder you won’t hear much about the report’s in-depth details in the so-called mainstream media.

Under the guise of “saving” the American auto industry through a bipartisan, taxpayer-funded bailout now topping $80 billion, President Obama’s know-nothing bureaucrats pushed the car companies to eliminate thousands of jobs — with unjustified haste using dubious economic models.

Obama hates capitalism and hates the oil industry. He’d love to use this as an excuse to give into his radical socialist environmentalist worldview and destroy both.

When, perceiving some insult, he moves against the paper or broadcast press — THEN, you’ll see a good fight break out.

The poor guy... Knowing what must follow, you almost feel sorry for him.

Almost.

I could watch him drive my beloved T-bird off a cliff and not even flinch.

How does this clown have the power to enact a drilling ban anyway? We give the Executive branch far too much power in this country.

There was never any justification to impose the moratorium. Clearly it was meant to cause harm to the country on many different levels. People lose jobs, rigs move to foreign nations, the American people are deprived of the oil. I can’t escape the thought that this Obama is just evil.

Working on any drilling rig is risky business. Offshore drilling is riskier still. It’s bad enough to be in a cyclical boom/bust very high risk occupation without your own government being the mortal enemy of your trade. Disgusting.

Of course he did. He saw this as an opportunity to enrich Soros and the Mid East Muslims.

His little back bay swimming picture stunt was a message to the Coast Guard that the he was declaring victory and the oil spill crisis was over. Then Woods Hole put out their peer-reviewed data about the underwater stream of oil over 22 miles long. Game back on.

You’re 100% right.

Weird how the lefties complained during the Bush administration and Executive power and Obama can shut down an industry via decree with nary a word.

“We give the Executive branch far too much power in this country.”

Wouldn’t be the case if the Congress and the media were doing their jobs...

For whatever reason, the lefties consider the 0ne to be one of themselves, whereas Bush was not. This all-powerful imperial government was constructed by themselves for themselves to play with; and they don't share their toys any better now than they did in kindergarten.

Obama hates capitalism and hates the oil industry.

No, he only hates U.S. companies making money and U,S. jobs. If they are in Brazil or Venezuela or China they are just fine.
