A trend that we’ve been following here at TFoP is sports writers, who are paid to write about sports, taking shots at politicians (usually conservative), and spouting their political views simply because they have a pulpit from which to speak.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, sportswriters don’t have any more right than you or I to spout off political thoughts, and furthermore most don’t want to hear it. If I want politics I’ll turn on Fox News, CNN, or read Jake Tapper’s column.
Enter Jonah Keri, a sportswriter at Bloomberg, and arguably one of my favorite baseball writers. While scrolling through twitter this morning I come across this little gem:
Rob Dibble as some of you might remember, was the sports announcer who stumped President Obama with this tough question: Who is your favorite White Sox player?
This isn’t an uncommon theme among sportswriters either. Jason Whitlock, a sportswriter who worked for the Kansas City Star for 16 years, is an outspoken Sarah Palin hater.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, and Rush Limbaugh has seen firsthand how nasty sports writers can get. Dave Zirin who runs, the site EdgeofSports.com is openly leftist and is attempting to lead a boycott of the Arizona Diamondbacks because they’re somehow responsible for Arizona enforcing their immigration laws.
The bottom line is that while everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, some need to keep them to themselves. It goes for the right and the left (if I could find a conservative sports writer he’d be on here too). We follow you and listen to you because of you’re knowledge about sports, not because you hate Sarah Palin and think Glenn Beck is ignorant.

I follow the “tweet tracker” on FR....they gossip and snark like HS kids about Republicans and the American people.
