Anna Little closes in on Frank Pallone (NJ-6)

Anna C. Little, Republican candidate for Congress in the 6th District, is closing in rapidly on her opponent, Democratic incumbent Frank Pallone, in a race that has now become a tossup, according to an internal poll.

In a press release issued August 23, Little cited a poll conducted for the campaign by National Research, Inc., showing Pallone at 40 percent of the vote and Little at 34 percent. That would mean that 26 percent of respondents surveyed were undecided or declined to answer. To be within single digits of the lead with a double-digit undecided population a scant ten weeks before the election is definitely an enviable place to be. Against an opponent having 100 percent name recognition (as Little points out) and a history of having won 11 elections in a district that the last three Democratic candidates for President carried by roughly 3:2 margins, this indicates that the trend, and the anti-incumbent sentiment that pervades the country, has broken in Little's favor.

Little credits her ground game with bringing her within this striking distance. By her own count, "Anna's Army" has knocked on 10,000 doors since the ground campaign began five weeks ago. Her successful recruitment of an old hand at congressional campaigning, namely Leigh-Ann Bellew, who ran against Pallone in 2006, as the chair of her campaign might also have something to do with her success. But Bellew and Little both suggest as well that Pallone has himself largely to blame for not having 50 percent of the vote locked in with the election 10 weeks away.

"The more people learn about Anna Little, the more they like her and can see her as the right alternative to the incumbent," Bellew said. "The voters already know about Frank Pallone and becoming increasingly uncomfortable with his out-of-touch voting record. He’s been in Washington too long and has become a bit too cozy with Nancy Pelosi."

Little added: "The arrogance of Frank Pallone and Nancy Pelosi aside, New Jersey voters have sent and are sending an unmistakable message to Democratic incumbents: stop spending money we don’t have and bankrupting our children. It seems that neither Governor Christie’s election nor the unsustainable path on which the Democrats in Congress have put America matter to entrenched incumbents like Frank Pallone and Nancy Pelosi. As Frank Pallone said at his town hall last year, he just knows better what’s good for us."

Little's ground troops will visit the town of Manalapan this Saturday.

Little is smart, energetic, and "Tea Party Approved"

This one is going to surprise a lot of people, but it shouldn't. Chris Christie won the Sixth Congressional District by 15.5% just last November in his run for NJ Governor. People Down the Shore are ready for the small government message.

Anna's motto is "Little Government is Good Government".

She's going to win this thing. Just wait and see.

The news media was bragging about how the Democrats have a large national money advantage. They are going to have to vigorously defend every seat and election. When you have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on safe seats, no money advantage is going to be enough.

NJ closes early and counts quickly.

When you see NJ-6 called for Little at about 8:30 PM on Election Day, you will know it is going to be a good, good night.

The news media was bragging about how the Democrats have a large national money advantage.

Anna Little's opponent (a self-financed billionaire candidate with the backing of the Republican Party establishment) outspent her 20-1 in the primary, and Anna beat her. She's got a good ground game, with lots of volunteers.

This one is going to be old-school. Knocking on doors. NJ-6 is right between the NY and Philadelphia media markets. Trying to run a TV-ad based campaign in this district is really, really expensive.

I voted for Mayor Little in the primary. Pallone is bragging and proud about his connection to ughBamaCare. I say, hang it around his neck like an albatross.

Anna Little is pretty much the real deal.

She is quite involved in the neighboring parish to me and is what she says she is: a churchgoing middle-class mom and wife, a local homeowner, an involved local citizen.

At last August’s Town Hall meeting in Red Bank, Palone kept saying “I crafted the Health Care bill” over and over and over again.. As if that makes it good? He’s so out of touch.

Everything I have seen about Little indicates she is the real deal. Pallone better watch out.

More like he crapped the HealthCare Bill, it's such a stinking mess.

Of course, Pallone might look at that statement as high praise...

Not only is Pallone responsible for much of the Health Care Bill, he has had his hand in every Big Government Boondoggle for the last couple of years. He is one of the “leading lights” of the big-spending Democrat Congress.

But you notice, he doesn’t get diddly-squat for his own district...

Now, I am not a big fan of pork-barrel politics, but it is usually customary for the Congressman to bring pork back to his own district...

The only thing NJ Democrats bring us is high taxes!

Just wait.. When people can no longer pay their outrageous property taxes the local governments swoop in and seize their land.. A Socialist Governments Dream!

Cook going the other way in late July: # NEW JERSEY | District 6: Likely Democrat to Solid Democrat (7/22/10)

RCP, EP, Sabato, CQP, Rothenberg : Safe Dem

It will be interesting to see if there is any movement on the "Expert" front based on the polling. This race is on our Tier 2 list and it would take two Leans D to move it to the Master List.

The NJ-06 was considered a longshot takeover opportunity for the GOP prior to the primary, but many declared it a lost cause when conservative Anna Little beat the millionaire RINO Gooch for the nomination. I’m glad to see that the district will indeed be in play this November.

If we pick up the NJ-06, not only will we pick up Adler’s NJ-03 with ease, but Rush Holt’s NJ-12 will be going GOP as well.

“At last August’s Town Hall meeting in Red Bank...”

I was there! It was that night that I swore I would work hard for whoever ran against Pallone.

And I am doing it.

And I am having a great time.

GO ANNA GO!

And Frank....go away!

NJ-6 did not wind up on anybody's radar because Obama won the district in 2008. Everybody is basically copying of everybody else's paper, because Democrat-in-a-district-won-by-McCain is everybody's jumping off point.

But in NJ-6, we have a much better data point. In 2009, one year after Obama won this district, Chris Christie trounced Jon Corzine in the Governor's race by 15.5% But this data was harder to find, since the Governor's race is reported by township, not by CD. Somebody has to do the work to tease out the numbers by Congressional District.

Fortunately, I have done that work. Christie won this district, and won it big. Folks Down the Shore are ready for the Small Government/Low Tax message.
