Barack Obama's Titanic presidency is sailing towards a November disaster
London Telegraph Blogs (U.K.) ^ | August 26, 2010 | Nile Gardiner

Influential Washington news site Politico has a major piece this morning revealing mounting fears among leading Democrats over worsening prospects for retaining control of the House of Representatives in this November’s mid-terms. According to Politico:

Top Democrats are growing markedly more pessimistic about holding the House, privately conceding that the summertime economic and political recovery they were banking on will not likely materialize by Election Day.

In conversations with more than two dozen party insiders, most of whom requested anonymity to speak candidly about the state of play, Democrats in and out of Washington say they are increasingly alarmed about the economic and polling data they have seen in recent weeks.

They no longer believe the jobs and housing markets will recover – or that anything resembling the White House’s promise of a “recovery summer” is under way.

The Politico piece also points out that “in two close races, endangered Democrats are even running ads touting how they oppose their leadership”, and cites a Democrat pollster as saying “the reality is that (the House majority) is probably gone.”

The defeatism on the Left strikingly highlighted in this piece is the culmination of a disastrous summer of discontent for the White House, where the president’s approval ratings have plummeted against a backdrop of relentlessly bad economic news, a virtual civil war within the ruling liberal elites, and the impressive rise of the anti-establishment Tea Party movement . As I’ve written previously, we’ve witnessed the most stunning and rapid political decline for a US president in recent American history.

Despite a mammoth economic stimulus package, US unemployment hovers around the ten percent mark, the housing market remains in a deep slump, and consumer confidence is stubbornly low. At the same time President Obama has

I don’t know. Have the American people learned anything at all?
They put Juan McCain back in the Senate, didn’t they?
I’m not confident any more.

They are sailing to a Titanic disaster?

Maybe they shouldn’t have made so much fun of and IGNORED people who were screaming DONT PASS THAT HEALTHCARE BILL.

They thought it was funny. Nancy marched through the street with that gavel. They ignored all those thousands of people screaming not to pass it.

Now they are going to get thrown out. Good. Anyone who looks down at the citizens with their condescending, elitest attitude deserves to get thrown out on their ear. And they have a lot of d*** nerve to act surprised.

All that “hope and change” isn’t working out very well.

They could always try blaming 0bama.

But their opponents might point out that they wrote and voted for the laws they passed.

“The Obama agenda has in many ways been an extraordinary and unprecedented assault on the free enterprise system that made the United States the most powerful nation the world has ever seen. It has succeeded not only in making America weaker, poorer and gravely more indebted, but also in eroding the very principles of liberty and freedom upon which it is based. The backlash will be huge.”

Even in Britain they get it.

Listen, I’m really getting tired of this crap. There are some political people that just defy all logic. Believe me, I have spoken to people until I’m blue in the face about McCain. Just tonight a guy told me he was so glad McCain won, that he voted for him. When I asked him what he likes about McCain..he COULDN’T TELL ME. When I pointed out all thing negative stuff, HE AGREED WITH ME...but he didn’t care. It’s like Kennedy in Massachusetts. But to use McCain as an indicator is ridiculous. We are going to make history this November..it does us no good to harp on the few bad candidates. LET IT GO!!!

DONT PASS THAT HEALTHCARE BILL.

Have we discovered or decided what's in it yet? It's very strange to me that the whole thing has been launched into a sort of vacuum. Nobody even talks about it! ( I think they're embarrassed to. ) "I shot an arrow into the air ..." really more like a mortar at fireworks show. WHUMP! ... that was its passage, now pfft pfft pfft pfft pfft ... as it spins into oblivion, but we know it's going to make a big bang sometime soon.

His vacations and Bigfoot's Spain "let them eat cake" vacations aren't helping either.

I agree. Great post. Seeing supposed Repubs and conservatives rallying around McCain sickened me. McCain/Feingold turned the USA over to the Dems 2006/2008 and The Imam.

Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries are in control. They control most of TV with Fox, Disney/ABC, CNN/Timewarner, NBC/CNBC/MSNBC, and possibly Viacom/CBS also Bloomberg which includes TV, financial data and magazines.

Mid East shareholders, investors, business partners and capital is propping up some of them.

It does not matter. They control ALL of TV. They can manipulate the public and they know it. Oh and our “friends” at Fox? They have Saudi shareholders. The same Saudis who bankroll every conquest mosque in the west and we are talking thousands of mosques.

You saw how the media manipulates people. McCain-Feingold turned our country over to Soros and Islam. ALL the TV networks support it including Fox/Saudia. The public has no clue what is going on - Cloward-Piven.

JD is an honorable man while McCain is a Democrat. The people of AZ made a HUGE mistake.
