The Hill runs a report crediting Sarah Palin for her many Republic primary victories. Before conservatives take too much pleasure in such news, read how she is credited with helping sweep John McCain to victory. Palin traveled to Arizona and made numerous campaign appearances with McCain, bringing him the Tea Party creds he so desperately needed to undercut the fact that he is a nearly three-decades-long, left-leaning Washington insider.
That Palin chose to conveniently back McCain over conservative former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth is a truth that should not soon be forgotten. Her help, McCains falsely running to the right, taking positions adverse to his established ones and $21 million dollars in attack ads did the trick.
Sarah Palin is all about expediency. She is no conservative.
Palin also showed that her support can help an establishment candidate, and not just a Tea Party-styled insurgent.
Palin backed her 2008 ticketmate, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), against former Rep. J.D. Hayworth. McCain won after moving to the right, particularly in his position on immigration. That was enough to defeat Hayworth, a former congressman who had tried to run to the right of the longtime senator.
McCain's former running mate endorsed him earlier this year and campaigned in Arizona in March. The endorsement from the Tea Party star undercut Hayworth's arguments that McCain was a Washington insider.
McCain is a POS and a very good friend to The Imam.
If these “conservatives” and Tea Party leaders are our saviors then Go help us.
pissant Jr.?
again your argument is???? She endorsed McCain before Hayworth was running, you cannot erase history. But, continue on your PDS
Don't think that is an accurate statement.
J.D. didn't "try" to run to the right of anyone. J.D. already was to the right of McCain. He's a conservative. Arizonans just made a mistake.
Let’s see......Palin made Numerous appearances with McCain? oh you mean one rally and one fundraiser? that’s numerous?
Yes, she supported her running mate, I wish the J.D had won but he didn’t and McCain’s 21 million probably did it....what’s done is done....here’s hoping Palin makes him Secretary of Defense
Wanna come out and play???
Good grief, folks, she helped the man who brought her into the spotlight. I don’t hold it against her at all. (and no, I am not a Mccain fan)
I’m not all that certain that McCain wouldn’t have won anyway.
We all make mistakes and Palin made a big one in this case. McCain’s victory was a bummer. But most of her endorsements were good endorsements. I’ll let this go.
This was the year of the Tea Party and anti-incumbency.
If JD couldn't win in this environment, then how is it Palin's fault?
I think McCain overplayed that initial show of support. Palin will make him pay eventually...
I wonder why in the world a Paul bot would do such a thing?
What kind of crap is that?
BTW Link doesn't work.
Palin supported him as political payback. She owed McCain big time and proved that she would reliably repay political favors.
What was so convenient about it, given that it has won her some grief from people on her side of the political aisle?
How is it a mistake? The political environment favored JD. Sarah's endorsement meant nothing when you boil it down, and even JD said that he understood why Sarah endorsed McCain. I bet JD will support McCain shortly.
She said she would campaign for McCain right after he lost the presidency, way before JD even entered the race? Why is this breaking news? I'll tell you why. JD was simply a horrible candidate who would have lost in the general anyway, and the anti-Palin brigade need a strawman to blame.
See this?
Don't think that is an accurate statement.
I don't believe it is, either. She recorded a campaign commercial for him that was played ad infinitum, according to AZ freepers, but that's all I'm aware of.
For the record, back when we here in Texas had our gubernatorial primary some months back, Dick Cheney's recorded pitch for Kaye Bailey Hutchison (RINO-TX) ran day and night for weeks on end.
I also hated to see Sarah endorse McCain, but I'm grown up enough to understand why she had to do it. Now that she's repaid her political debt to him, she's free to push forward and help every real conservative she can.
McCain is in the twilight of his career. He holds no Senate leadership or committee chairmanships.
He's nothing but a younger version of Strom Thurmond, and if the new Republicans get elected that'll blunt his impact. I agree with you that McCain is a Soros POS but in the end he's irrelevant.
No, he’s pissant, sr. Much worse.
I would like her to make him SecDef, just long enough for him to lose his Senate seat, then fire his lame butt and send him back to Arizona.
Try this:
If not, Google it. The URL includes an apostrophe which is probably getting mangled somewhere along the way, and I don’t have time to track down why.
Ditto that!

Where’s the article from Seeing Red AZ?
I’d love to see that happen!
:-)
He's not being received very well is he?
Pardon, but I'm out of the loop on all of the odd political bots running around this place. Only the biggest stars catch my attention. I'm terrible about that.
Who voted for McCain? Buy a clue, the citizens of AZ.
Are you taking on dirty work now?
Wow. Didn't think there could be one worse than him.
Well. Guess I'll have to show him some "love" from time to time ;-)
Boo-freaking-Hoo troll boy.
Cry me a river of third party tears.
Like she said, she told the whole county she wanted him to be POTUS, so of course she would be for him for the US Senate. She went on to add that “he has seen the light” on some of the important issues.
My God, you need a brain in place of the hatred you hold for her.
You’re much too childish for grown-up politics.
She appeared at TWO campaign rallies for McCain in March 2010, at least one of which was streamed over the Internet. [Note that J.D. was already in the race at this point in time.]
LIVE THREAD: Sarah Palin at McCain Rally NOW ("Send the maverick back to the United States Senate!")
AZ-Sen. 2010: Palin Makes Fans Uneasy by Backing McCain (McCain wants to co-opt Tea Party)
She also went on at least one live television interview with Fox in which she said that McCain is part of the Tea Party.
Palin: Tea Party Leaders Agree with McCain on Big Picture
She also wrote an op-ed piece for The Arizona Republic imploring Arizonans to re-elect McCain.
AZ-Sen. 2010: A desire to serve defines McCain (Palin begs Arizonans to vote for McCain!) (BARF)
On top of that, she not only recorded those campaign commercials that were "played ad infinitum," but she attended at least one reception/dinner with photo op to raise money for McCain, not that he really needed any more since he had tens of millions left over from 2008 (that he refused to deploy against Obama).
AZ-Sen. 2010: Reception and Dinner with Governor Sarah Palin (raising money for RINO McCain!)
Play? Um, no, but I posted my comment to the Sarah troll.
See post 25.
Let’s just say he’s got no case to criticize anyone considering the loonies he has voted for in the past.......
Why did I know, one of you Palin-bashers would be the one who posted this?
Did you ever identify for the group, who you’re shilling for?...
Yes, I’ve been pinged to this twice now and I have posted my comment to the Sarah-hating-troll-boy.
It was a nice one too...
So will Palin be there for McCain when he inevitably returns to backing amnesty? Or cap-and-tax?
Oh man, don't make my heart race like that. I swear, I got goose bumps reading that.
I think I'll drive around honking my truck horn all day, if Sarah throws McCain to the wolves down the road.
It would serve him right for having forced her to support his slimy ass, and disappoint so many of her supporters.
yes... yes...
Or she could have just stayed out of the race. Any number of excuses, e.g., "I believe that it is the place of the citizens of Arizona and not mine to decide on their candidate," would have worked and been completely acceptable.
Most of you are either supporters of other candidates
There are no officially declared candidates.
or have issues with women in powerful positions
Accusing me of being sexist, LOL!
That's rich.
Maybe I shouldn't have cut a check for $200 out of my savings to Michele Bachmann in the last election cycle.
BOO-HOO!
Arizona voters have voted. You know, those people who know him best.
Give Sarah ALL THE CREDIT, it matters not!
BUY A CLUE:
SHE TOLD EVERYONE IN AMERICA SHE WANTED HIM TO BE POTUS!
It only makes sense that she would want him to be Senator! (DUH)!
If I lived in AZ I would have voted for JD.
But how sad is it that AZ, home of Jan Brewer (McCain Supporter) couldn’t find a Joe Miller type to take on McCain.
I mean even in true blue NJ we got us a Chris Christie. If only conservatives in Arizona could have got off their asses and found a compelling candidate to take on Juan McDouche, they wouldn’t have to blame their ineptitude on Sarah.
Resorting to personal attacks this early in the game.
Typical.
" LAKESNARK "
It only makes sense that she would want him to be Senator!
So where does this end?
Or does she, out of "loyalty," have to support him for whatever he wants?
