On May 13, 2010, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm released a series of public service announcements warning Michigan residents about investment scams. The 30-second radio ads encourage people to do background checks before giving any money to a purported investor.
Just two months earlier, the Michigan Economic Growth Authority approved a $9.1 million tax credit for a convicted embezzler who was on parole (http://www.mackinac.org/12345).
