First Lady Michelle Obama visited the Gettysburg Battlefield with her daughters Wednesday, according to the National Park Service.
GNMP Supt. Bob Kirby reported that Obama "travelled here on her own personal time earlier today to spend private time touring the park with her children."
Mrs. Obama was reportedly here for two hours, around lunch time.
Kirby noted that "we respected her request for privacy and we appreciate everybody's support to help make it happen."
Her handlers musta had a devil of a time talking her into this one.
MoBama: Kids, this is where we free slaves tried to beat back the racist crackers.
Wonder if she stayed at the KOA campground and walked the fields?
Still a vacation. When was your last vacation?

She’s not a gubmt employee.
So what other kind of time does she have?
The handlers are trying to make the Obamas appealing to the returning warriors. It won’t work. Michelle does NOT appreciate Gettysburg.
Fine by me. But it's the liberal press who slobber all over them.
Thats fine, but I suspect this is really an attempt at damage control after all the criticism she has received for all the Partay vacations.

If Mr. Kirby is respecting their privacy, why did he issue a press release?

It doesn’t start till after labor day in many places.
If that were the case, she'd have had half the DC press pool following behind them, taking pictures, and filming her talk about how the South was fighting for slavery. But this was uncharacteristically low-key. I wonder why?

No. I suspect it is low key precisely to make it “appear” genuine.

I'm sure Michelle didn't consider this a vacation, though. More like work.
Just a place where alot of white guys got blown up. Boring.
What the heck does that mean? It is not like she has a real JOB. What were they trying to convey? Why emphasis on her own personal time? If they had said DIME, that would have made sense. I guess the were just trying to get around anyone asking..."what, another vacation?" But who would have said that about a day's trip to...any place? Just a real strange statement. And I am sure all the privacy was because she did not want to be photographed with all the weight gain from vacation fare she has been gobbling down. Or for America to see her at yet another ice cream shop.
This time of year is very busy at Gettysburg. They must have had a heck of a time giving her privacy there. It is not an easy place to navigate if streets and locations are closed off because some one wants to view areas privately.
I just hope, as she walked the grounds where so many shed their blood and died for the "cause"...so many white soldiers...that she gave thanks and was proud of her country.
BTW Gettysburg is a beautiful drive from DC through lovely countryside, and a little less than two hours away, even closer if they left from Camp David (Of course, I don't know if they were there or at the WH, just mentioning it for those who don't know the area). But, I wonder how many attendants she had to take along with her, and how many vehicles accompanied her tour. These people just don't seem to want to spend much time around Dad.
