I can barely get here, can't do search or pings, etc for at least the last day or so. Is it just my terrible ISP or are we under attack or something?
FR went down this morning. It’s been hit or miss since.

FR has been down all day, I just got here but haven’t looked around to see if there is an explanation.
I have been having the same problems on my end. It is most likely a server issue on their end. They have had them before and get they get it fixed. It sometimes just takes a little while.
I always think it’s my crummy laptop or Verizon wireless! Haven’t joined the Yahoo message group but that’s usually the first place I check.
Its a little slow here in Minnesota also.

I have double slow mode going.
My server and FR not cooperating for the past few days.
Some pages on he net I can’t even access at all, and usually can.
Frustrating. Have been on the road for two days. Today has been the worst in terms of connecting w/FR. Started @ 2100, this is my second attempt @ connecting. Godspeed.
Bad all day.
One plus side .... we've cleaned our machines with every tool we have and a few of us finally broke down and actually paid for a better antivirus or upgraded to some pro edition.

Were FR "under attack" or "shut-down" by obama's government, Jim would be in immediate contact with Andrew Breitbart, Drudge, Ann Coulter and others, so the "news" would instantly be the talk of the internet.
You’re right. It is a good alternative. I’d joined that one but when I knew FR was going to be down for a while I decided to do some shopping!

I’ve been having trouble with FR for WEEKS! It has gotten a little better,but,not much.
Hasn’t been working right all day. Going through withdrawal.

I had the same problem Fri morning, my ISP is Time Warner Hudson Valley, NY area. It’s working good now.
There's a site for that: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.freerepublic.com. It tries to access the requested site and reports back its success or failure.
No luck with FR in Los Angeles all day today — stopped trying hours ago but now, obviously, all seems well.
The past five or six hours its been impossible to get on here.
Were you trying to register at altfreerepublic? If you're having problems registering, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix it.

Hey, Jim, et al., I commiserate. Many night late, stuff doesn’t work, alone, dark, trying to figure out why it doesn’t happen. And... and ... and then you got it! And when they come in the morning, ah, gosh, gee, all in a day’s work.
And my friend tells me about the cold of the concrete from the shop floor on legs that have become stilts, in the middle of the night to make a deadline because the customer needs it in the morning.
And bringing in the crop — well before dawn and long after dark — falling asleep in work clothes after quick supper and waking up to do it it again — for weeks — ...
and the quiet satisfaction and confidence that you can meet the challenges ... and
And that’s us AMERICANS ... down to the wire, exhausted, tired, facing hopeless odds ... and ...
WE WIN.

I am just stating what has been done in the past.
No opinion by me on neccesity or not.
I went over to yahoo and did not see any message from JR, must have missed it.
It was nice getting the auto message sent out as it let me know it was not my webtv dial up.
I saw posts at yahoo from others saying they could not get in here and that pretty much sums it up for me.
FR is not accessible at time period for what ever reason. The last thing I worry about, even though it does cross my mind, is that some person/group pulled the plug here.
