Big speculation is that Rham Emanuel will quit working for Obama to go to Chicago and run for mayor now that Daley is leaving the big seat.

That’s what Obama and his minions have in mind. Wait for it.

You can amass enough graft in 21 years - he’s set for life.

Another political family dynasty falls. And there was much rejoicing.
To: Mobile Vulgus
... leaving the big chair is to be with his family. I know his wife is quite ill... cancer I think. So this may be possible, but I suspect he got his hand caught in a cookie jar, and was offered an opportunity to (temporarily) avoid jail.

So, is there a Richard X. Daley (son of a son of a son) to take over the next election?

Wow, this is a biggie.
Wonder if Emanuel has some dirt on fat boy?
To: Paul46360
I’m sorry to hear that. Will send up a prayer about that.
I fear Chicago will be handed over to someone much of the same mind.

Several hundred people have filed to run for Mayor in the past 12 minutes.
There’ll be women, black guys, Hispanic guys, Alderman Ed Burke, JJJ Jr. and/or his wife, and who knows whether brother Bill Daley will decide he’d like to sit in the big chair now.
