As we approach the September 14th Republican Primary it is anticipated that many disillusioned Democrat voters and Independents in MA-04 will be requesting a Republican ballot in order to take the first step towards removing Barney Frank as representative for the 4th Congressional District. Frank is one of the members of Congress that is most responsible for the financial meltdown which led to the present Recession and skyrocketing unemployment figures.
I have been supporting the candidacy of a true conservative in the tradition of Ronald Reagan named Earl Sholley (R), from Norfolk, MA who is presently involved in a brutal primary battle with his more moderate opponent Sean Bielat, who is being supported by the Republican IN Name Only (RINO) and perennial losers, the mainstream Massachusetts GOP.

I think Frank has an opponent in the primary, Rachel Brown, but she’s a LaRouchie (LaRouche Youth Movement). She has posed next to “Impeach Obama” signs and also got yelled at by Frank in a town meeting where Frank asked her “on what planet do you spend most of your time?” and “arguing with you is like arguing with a dining room table”. I get a feeling Frank will win his primary.
btw as much as I’m against Frank’s politics he did have a couple good lines a few years back. On a depressed central
artery: “Wouldn’t it be cheaper to raise the city?” And:
“If they want to depress the artery they should just have
Mike Dukakis talk to it.” Other than that...
Frank's district is drawn to take advantage of the most liberal tools available in the entire state. These people would rather die than support anyone to the right of Frank. Being gay actually helps a candidate in that district.
Scott Brown was able to win because it was a statewide election. Barney is set for lfe.

If he gets through the primary and I think he will, the race will become a national race and the Republican candidate should be able to raise enough money to be competitive as Frank has about a $1million to work with but he has to give some of that money to other Dems who are in trouble
I borrowed some of the statement in the first thread and posted on Boston.com for Earl Sholley.
My Dad had the pleasure of meeting him last year in Norfolk at the town library. He specifically set up a meeting with him to discuss his views. We (my family) is originally from Norfolk, although I have moved out and my Dad moved to Florida. He is still concerned about Massachusetts politics and wanted to see how this man stood on issues. Especially since he comes from our home town.
He was pleasantly surprised and stated he would support him if he was able to vote here. So, I put my hat in the ring too!

Wow. I wasn't aware of that. I assume that the New Bedford/Fall River voters were responsible for that, because I can't imagine Newton/Brookline going for Brown.

Here is the map. You can click anywhere on it to see what towns Brown won in. I was very surprised that the western portion of Mass did not vote Brown. I seem to be in an extremely portion of our state. Yay for our towns!

LOL! I was just looking at that map. Western MA is a liberal hive. I worked in Amherst 20 years ago, and discovered that all the little burgs out there are full of moonbats. I always called it, “Far Southern Vermont.”

I never knew that and I’ve lived here all my life. I’ve always thought of them as deep in the woods type of people. I’ve never really ventured out that way though. Such a shock!
I completely felt that my area which is located right above Rhode island was liberal. Boy was I wrong. I was extremely pleased at the results. Guess I’ll stay put!
I grew up in Needham. Fairly conservative for MA back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Not now. Full of yuppified moonbats.
Remember, western MA is home to leftist campuses like U Mass, Williams, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Amherst College and truly bizarre Hampshire College. Also, when the NYC and Cambridge/Beacon Hill elites choose the mountains for summer vacation, they go to the Berkshires.
I read your post at Boston.com and recognized the text. No problem. I figured it was one of the Sholley supporters. Those of us who blog for Sholley borrow from each other all the time He is a great guy and a true conservative. I had some questions about him last January and called to see if I could meet him and he drove about an hours ride in a terrible thunderstorm to where I live and we sat inside a diner and talked politics for three hours. He is a walking encyclopedia of issues related knowledge and has developed into a very engaging candidate who is one of the most sincere people I’ve ever met. He’s the real thing!

Wow, my eyes are opening wider with the information you’ve provided. I guess over the years I neglected to care about politics. I avoided it like the plague. I thought my Dad was nuts. Since opening my eyes, I’ve learned a lot about the people in power in this state. I’m not happy! I am teaching my kids well on the subject - in fact my oldest is very politically active. I keep telling him he should run, but unfortunately he would probably get shot along the way. hahaha
He is maybe a tad over spoken, but I love him anyway! :)
Is there a chance that Sholley might win the primary?
I did a stupid thing and touted Bielat to my little group because I saw he was a marine and figured that was about as conservative as you can get in MA - but I am now going to check this guy out - Sholley, I mean.
I think I will like what I find out just based on what I have seen here, any ideas how to back out gracefully from 1 candidate and move to another... other than, oops, guys, screwed up again :)
Regardless, whatever repub gets the nomination... this has got be Barney’s most vulnerable year and we have to take advantage of that...
I think you are wise to check him out and see if his views are more in line to your thinking. If not, no worries! If you like what you see, then it would be easy to explain to your group that there is another candidate that you were unaware of and that maybe they also should check him out before heading out to the polls.
No foul as far as I’m concerned! I’m sure they would appreciate having a look at another candidate as well. Best of luck!

PLEDGE TO THE PEOPLE - With your support, and if honored to go to Washington to represent the People of the 4th Congressional District, I pledge to work for the following goals:
1. I pledge to downsize government by working towards a 50% reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy which will, within 10 years, result in a legacy of a balanced budget and limited government intrusion.
2. I pledge to use my vote in Congress to apply a permanent limit on taxes that can only be changed by a vote of the people, and moving to a Consumption tax (Fair or Flat tax) which will stimulate the economy and help to bring jobs back to the United States.
3. I pledge to implement Term Limits to two (2) terms and NO pension. Representatives of the people are not privileged individuals, but Citizen Statesmen and Public Servants who work for the people, not themselves.
4. I pledge to end illegal immigration once and for all by fining employers. I will vote to use the National Guard on the border as Border Security agents, not as carpenters and contractors. I will vote to abide by the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution concerning Individual & States Rights.
5. I pledge to repeal the Health Care Bill and to promote a Culture of Life. I will work to make health care more affordable through tort reform and interstate competition. We offer the best health care in the world. Getting government out of the health care business and allowing the people to take the lead will open up more health care choices, cut costs, and help to eliminate bureaucratic red tape.
6. I pledge to work for energy independence once and for all by promoting the development of this country’s abundant resources: coal, nuclear, wave motion, geothermal, natural gas, oil, and other viable alternative sources. There is no need to be dependent on foreign governments for our sources of energy. We can lower energy costs by applying science… not hysteria. We are Americans after all!
7. I pledge to end voter fraud and to work for fair and secure elections by requiring a Photo ID at the polling stations, and by working to promote English proficiency and a knowledge of American History. Elections must be legitimate in order for the Republic to endure.
8. I pledge to work for Constitutional integrity, individual rights and responsibilities, and to impeach Judges (and even Presidents) in violation of those responsibilities. I also pledge to reign in the legal aristocracy that now exists in Washington and throughout America.
9. I pledge to work towards universal choice in education and enforcement of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Getting the government out of education and the teachers out of politics will result in more competition, less propaganda, less classroom indoctrination and better educated Americans. Parent’s tax dollars will go to the school of their choice.
10. I pledge to work for a strong defense for this great nation by promoting peace through strength. We can only keep Americans safe by publicly identifying our enemies. We can no longer serve as the world’s police. I pledge to always put the United States of America first.
