Dear General Petraeus,
Most of the guys I served with a couple of generations ago would call rioting mobs of wild-eyed enemy, in town squares, in their own country, a "target-rich environment".
That tiny religious congregation in Florida has presented you with a priceless tactical opportunity.
A old war general, the likes of Patton or Sherman, would probably set a squad or two just at the 'safe' fringes of any mob, to lure the rioters towards their positions. (I'll bet some of your special-ops heroes would not shrink from being 'the rabbits').
As soon as he senses an impending threat to his forces, that general has justification to rain down Hell-Fire from above via the Predators, F-18's, Cobras, or whatever just happen to loitering up there.
Mob "dispersed", future IED technicians "deterred", and troop morale JATO- boosted.
And countless aspiring suicide bombers get their wish a little early.
Rinse and repeat as needed.
Your troops, our children and grandchildren, are already in harm's way. A couple of smoldering Korans in Florida isn't going worsen that condition very much. The enemy already hates us 99+ percent. Maybe we should "hate back" a little. It is war, after all---isn't it???
General, with respect, we hired you to kill the enemy and break his things. We have another set of hirelings (the candy-striped pants diplomatic corps) to make nicey-nice with him. Your job is to hurt him so much that he begs to make nicey-nice with us.
Courage, General! I know that the salad on your left chest wasn't earned entirely by sucking up to your superiors. Sure, you may get fired for doing your job. But a grateful nation will support any of your future leadership ambitions.
If you're not doing it already, I recommend getting down on your knees and thanking the Almighty for the opportunity He's giving you through one of His servant groups in Florida. I know that I certainly do.

That would depend on whether Gen. Sherman was dealing with (1) white southerners or (2) injuns.
Personally, I think he was only obeying orders from above. From what I’ve read the only “protest” was about 500 people in downtown Kabul.
Throw in Islamic Rage Boy and you might have enough for one small riot.
WHY do you NEED to burn bundles of paper?
Exactly who wins in a book-burning? Who is defeated? What is accomplished?
No one, no one, and absolutely nothing.
But, there are by-products: our side looks like a bunch of lunatics, and we inadvertently drum up sympathy for those who least deserve it.
It’s your choice. The First Amendment protects your stupidity. But if you must resort to third-world tactics to make your point, please don’t claim to be speaking for all Americans, all patriots, or all conservatives, because you are most certainly not.
As someone stated earlier, we had 80% support in our fight against the Mosque by Ground Zero. I don’t want that number going down because some people decided to let their emotions get the better of them.
I appreciate the outrage about the GZM, but the answer is not to burn books. Do people seriously think that over a billions Muslims are going to be put in their place by a crack pot pastor from Florida? It will accomplish NOTHING.
Our side? There are 50 people in the frickin' church involved, they can hardly be called "our side" as if the majority of the country were burning korans. However, if we were all burning them I would support it. We need to teach the violent mob call islam that we won't stand for their murderous ways any longer. Personally, I am for running them all out of our country, even the ones who are citizens. Out law islam in the US and deport all muslims and we will be a lot safer after that.

They know we are pushovers, their mere threat of violence sends our “leaders” scurrying into their holes and giving in.
If “Piss Christ” and dung on the Virgin Mary passes for First Amendment, and “art” (disgusting taxpayer funded) then burn baby burn, this kooky pastor has his First Amendment rights as much as the GZM people have theirs. At least this Pastor isnt using it against us.
I personally don’t care what the muslems think on this subject. They burn our flag, and our Bibles, and murder christians and jews who truly are a religeon of peace, and mock our God and Savior, Jesus.
They are offended at anything that is said about their “religeon” that does not support their views.
I think that Islam should be outlawed, it’s members deported and its imams tried and hung for subversion against the USA and their mosks(sp) burned to the ground and the ashes dumped into the ocean.
As for our troops, they should “ Kill em all, Let God sort them out” and I’d take the lawyers out of the combat zone too, they have no business being there. (they remind me of the political officers in the soviet union’s military.)
Let the muslems fear US.
