Sarah Palin has updated her Facebook post on the Koran burning, adding the following:

Book burning is bad. But the Muslim cleric who is running for parliament in Afghanistan is calling for the murder of American children in response to scorched Korans, which is worse. Where is the media's focus?

There is little rational discussion in any of the media. That is why subscriptions/viewers continue to decline.

"Muslim cleric who is running for parliament in Afghanistan is calling for the murder of American children in response to scorched Korans"

The Florida pastor did a great service.

He was able to get Ron Paul and his fellow travelers to admit that they feel Muslims are violent.

But he will say nothing about the wisdom of saying that.

Or of the propriety of saying that.

I don’t feel bad about burning any book I purchased with my own money.

Kind of like burning the Flag..you know, protesting...

The response seems to be that if it offends the Muslims, you should not do it. Seems to be just another response to their terrorism.

islam is a political movement ala communism that falsely hides behind a veil of religion to gain less restrictions to implement its’ political agenda.

koran is the political handbook i.e. mein kampf, Mao’s little red book, alinsky’s Rules for radicals, etc

Burning political books has zero relevance to religion.

Burn baby, burn!

One day we will either go to war with Muslims, or be swept under them.

The sooner that war starts the better our chance of winning it.

I agree with both of you. My post, which quoted Palin’s “book burning is bad”, was meant as a testament to her Churchillian mastery of the language and its power to convey both gravity and persuasion.

Okay. What she said was a silly simplification.

Governments burning books that belong to others is bad, but I would bet this pastor didn’t steal anyones books.

He was going to burn books that he or his flock of 50 either owned or were donated. Whats the problem? If I own it and want to burn my books, thats my business. My hubby had some liberal books from years ago that he tossed into a bonfire. His books, his business. It was funny to watch that drivel burn.

There is a book coming out(heard about it on FOX this morning) that the government wants to buy all the books. The reason is to cover their own mistakes and treachery.

Now that is bad. You know there must be a lot of truth in there for them to do that.

Agreed, wtc911. She’s using the ‘book burning is bad’ as a clever rhetorical premise to hoist those who agree with her when it is a Koran on their own petard. She’s making the larger point and providing the context that the media have purposely skirted.

Funny how this is so obvious, but no political leader will ever admit it. I'm not sure why so many people have their head in the sand on this issue.

I just hope when the day it all comes to head it's not too late for us.

I thought the guy was wrong to schedule the book-burning on 9/11, because he was co-opting the date for his own political purposes. I also didn’t think burning the koran as a smart thing to do.

However, I admit now that I wonder if we shouldn’t all be burning korans, all the time, all around the world, just to desensitize the muslim community, so they can get used to it and don’t act so out-of-sorts when it happens.

I mean, the first time someone does something, it seems like a big deal. But if it is happening all the time, and you realise it doesn’t really effect you personally, you learn to move on and let it go.

So part of me thinks we could do the “moderate muslim” community a great service by desensationalizing the whole koran-burning thing by doing it as part of a daily routine or something.

It would also help the “moderate muslim” community learn who among them are particularly prone to excessive reactions to perceived slights, so they could counsel their brethren on the “religion of peace” and how to get along with the infidels without chopping heads off and blowing things up.

I’m sure that the “moderate muslim” community would love to tackle this important task of bring their more radical brethren back to what we are told is a “correct understanding” of Islam.
