When Society Thinks Torture is Funny – Have We Crossed the Line?
The PPJ Gazette ^ | September 13, 2010 | Lynn Swearingen

"Why as a Society are we allowing this to happen around the Nation? To show how mainstream and accepted this has become, watch this video of a Cop (with his partner assisting) who doesn’t like the actions of his Fantasy Football Teammate. Did you laugh? I didn’t either and I plan to contact DirecTV and demand they pull this offensive commercial.

What about the Bud Light commercial where a fully equipped SWAT team secures the beer and pizza, but leaves the individual needing help stranded across the hall?"

"Specifically in this case the writer refers to a commercial where 2 cops go over, ring this guys door bell, looks around, then tases him - over a fantasy football issue. Not so funny."

After the cop tazes the guy he smirks as the guy lays twitching on the floor. I agree, not funny.

The only good thing about these commercials is the Darwinian leftist idiots who copy them and actually climb zoo fences to hug polar bears.
Rush mentioned such a liberal dingbat chic on today’s show.

What makes liberals so stupid, naive, and clueless ?
Liberalism is a disease no doubt about it.

As for the Muslim “PC” part - I must have missed it in the article.

The Muslim PC part is my sarcasm. This country is too diverse to use one standard for anything.

>Or better yet, we could have congress create a commission to develop the standards and impose fines on any advertisers that cross the lines of good taste.

Isn’t that the secondary function of the FCC?

Let’s not give obammy any more ideas. I’m sure he could hire a czar to watch over television commercial violence.

Isn’t that the secondary function of the FCC?

If it is then the FCC has at least one too many functions.

Let's see...

In the 1970's Monty Python had the routine about the Spanish Inquisition, was that funny?

In the movie Brazil (more Python), they had a scene where elderly women were transcribing the screams of torture victims into written reports, calmly wearing dictaphone headpones with screaming sounds emanating from them.

Why ask this question now?

How about the commercial(s) from Nissan where a polar bear hugs a hybrid Nissan owner while crying! They’re not only offensive politically but are brainwashing too!

There, that'll fix it...

I’m not even going to say how much I disagree with this opinion, but good luck getting DirecTV to pull the commercial. They have no control over what is shown on each channel. They just broadcast what they’re given.

Actually they are paid to run the ad, unless - as in this case - they actually produced the ad themselves. To further participation in the Fantasy Football League this was their clever idea.

The great thing is we all can choose whom to Boycott if the services they provide offend us.

I thought this ad was tacky. I also thought police officers would want it off the air as well.
