Are Republicans Holding America Hostage?

CBS News is reporting a new line in President Acorn's campaign strategy. In at least sixteen political speeches this year, press statements and even the State of the Union address, President Acorn has referred to Republican efforts in Washington DC as holding an issue hostage. I suppose since the Republicans have controlled both Houses of Congress, this is a smart attack. It is not like the Democrats have 59 Senators and almost 80 more House members than the Republicans, right? Furthermore, since the American people are clamoring for a far more activist federal government, it makes sense to unload on the Republicans who are thwarting the people’s will.

Oh wait; don’t the Democrats control every lever of power, the White House, the House, the Senate, the Judiciary by the power of appointment, the media and academia? No matter, the President has an issue he likes: attacking the obstructionist Republicans for stopping him from doing more, more, more. Specifically, with dates of Obama’s speeches;

• Extensions of President Bush's Middle Class Tax Cuts -- Republicans are holding this issue hostage. 9/3/10

• Aid to Small Businesses -- Again, Republicans are holding this issue hostage. 8/30/10

• Veterans Programs -- You guessed it, Republicans are holding this issue hostage. 8/2/10

• Extending Unemployment Benefits -- Guess who? Republicans are holding this issue hostage. 7/30/10

• Immigration Reform -- Same old, same old. 7/1/10

• Health Care Reform -- Evil Republicans are taking hostages. 6/16/10

• Nominations -- Someone call the cops, Republicans are at it again! 1/27/10

• Energy Policy -- Oil men run the Republican Party, so this hostage situation makes sense. 6/2/10

Obviously the hostage metaphor must have polled well. I wonder how well it polls when it is pointed out that...

Pure BRAVO SIERRA. When the Dems conrol the House, the Senate, the White House, etc., it cannot be said that the Repubs, who are in the minoirty, are holding anyone hostage.

More mumbo-jumbo, snake-oil talk from the Islamo-marxist in chief.

But the american people are awake...and November is coming!

Come on already, we know that Obama has changed the face of politics, changed our finances, changed our hawkish attitude around the world, dramatically changed our debt in numbers and has made himself clear every step of the way.

He has had a majority in the Senate and the House to support him.

He even has accomplished the impossible, he gave us government controlled health care and what does he have to say about all of his accomplishments?
