Do All 2010 Flu Shot Vaccines contain H1N1? (Vanity)

Posted on 09/19/2010 4:48:08 PM PDT by Babu

I was checking around online to find a convenient place nearby to get an annual flu shot, as is my habit, but so far, every place offering shots this year I have gone to is stating something along the lines of this: "The H1N1 component is included in this year's Seasonal Influenza Immunization."

They don't offer a "plain vanilla" flu shot, so to speak, that is, a regular flu shot, WITHOUT any H1N1. If I am unable to find a flu shot offered without H1N1 included, then I will be skipping it this year. My wife is a health care professional, and has the exact same opinion -- she won't take a flu shot that includes H1N1

I have done an online search, and so far, have been unable to find any information whatsoever about this. This surprises me, since we all know what a controversy H1N1 vaccinations were last year, and that many refused to take them, including some health care workers, somewhere in NY state, as I recall. I also recall that the all-knowing gubmint, with the assistance of their slavish lapdog Leftist media, tried to create a panic about H1N1 in 2009. But many refused to take the controversial vaccine, so they had a lot of H1N1 vaccine left over.

So I wonder what is going on here? Did the gubmint freeze all the vaccine and are they forcing the inclusion of that leftover H1N1 in all flu vaccines this year? Or perhaps it is brand new H1N1 vaccine, but I'm still suspicious that the Federal goobermint is involved. Either way, I want no part of H1N1, and neither does my wife.

Anyone have any knowledge about this topic to share?

H1N1 is so last year (and 1917), but, seriously...I don’t know.

I would think you will find your answers at the CDC website in Atlanta. They are the ones that determine what is included in the vaccines.

LOL--my flu shot last week contained nothing.

The inadequately trained CVS pharmacist extracted only air from the vaccine bottle. Fortunately, I was watching and caught the screw up before getting an injection of air. Then I took the syringe and demonstrated how to properly draw fluid from a vial.

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm
The seasonal flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season. The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against 2009 H1N1, and two other influenza viruses (an H3N2 virus and an influenza B virus). The viruses in the vaccine change each year based on international surveillance and scientists’ estimations about which types and strains of viruses will circulate in a given year. About 2 weeks after vaccination, antibodies that provide protection against influenza virus infection develop in the body.

There is nothing wrong with the vaccine. I contracted H1N1 last year and wish I had received the vaccine but only got the standard flu shot. I’m not missing this year’s for anything.

That just pisses me off. I deliberately did NOT get a H1N1 shot last year because I have a history of over-reacting to meds, etc.

Guess I won't be getting any flu shot this year.

How is it that the gubbmint can force this kind of crap on us?

Yes.

“Seasonal Influenza (Flu)Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine as soon as vaccine is available this fall. While flu is unpredictable, it’s likely that 2009 H1N1 viruses and regular seasonal viruses will cause illness in the U.S. this flu season. The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season.”

Apparently, the tracking of H1N1 was able to be accomplished without RFID, through vaccine supply, data mining for treatment, electronic medical records, etc., etc., etc. Hitachi’s RFID powder is still a passive recorder, IIRC.

Creating combined vaccines is the most cost efficient way to mass vaccinate people.

Adverse reactions to medications are in a whole different ballpark than reactions to vaccines.

Flu shots are not “ala-carte.” It’s a binary system: You either get the shot with the three strains they pick out this year, or you don’t. Just like every year since they were invented.

Don’t disagree with you at all. IIRC, H1N1 showed up in Mexico 1st aboutthe time 0bama visited there. I remember that archaeologist fellow 0bama shook hands with up and died within days from H1N1.

I also know someone who came down with it. He was as sick as a dog.

I didn’t get the shot and won’t. I don’t trust the feds anymore on anything health related. Not anymore. All those databases. All that tracking, DNA gathering, who knows what.

Negative reactions to the swine flu vaccine is a statistical game. CDC has no viable statistics because of their poor collection of data on the flu and shot reactions last year.

Australia banned the vaccine after analyzing it’s statistical damage along with other European nations.
Do you feel lucky?

I’m one of those people who steer clear from those shots because of the preservatives used in them, in combination with human idiocy ala` NautiNurse’s post. There are things like Guillan Barre` syndrome and autism that i believe can be triggered by “hot shots”; which occurs when a vial has been stored long enough for the heavier components like thimerasol (mercury based) to settle. When the syringe is filled in a vial that is almost empty, that had not been properly shaken, one would get a much more concentrated dose of these chemicals. I know there has been much debate on the thimerasol thing, but i don’t think they’re looking at it from this perspective when studies are done.

Ask for preservative-free vaccines and you should be alright.

It's been lifted for two of the three manufacturers

Professor Jim Bishop said continued close monitoring of side affects showed convulsions appear to be confined to the vaccine Fluvax, manufactured by CSL... "In the meantime I am now advising that if parents of children under five years of age wish to have their children vaccinated against seasonal flu that they should discuss with their GP or vaccine provider the use of Vaxigrip or Influvac."

According to this article, Merck is distributing CSL manufactured vaccine. Just avoid that one and get one by Sanofi Pasteur; MedImmune; GlaxoSmithKline, or GSK; or Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.

Guillian Barre is a real, if rare possibility. There is so much research that now shows that autism is not related to vaccination.

There is no such thing as a plain Flu shot, it is always a trivalent shot with the three varieties predicted to be the most risk for the coming year. If memory serves, there is always a bird flu, and swine flu strain in the vaccine. If they had seen H1N1 a little earlier last year, it would have been included the standard vaccine series instead of whatever other swine flu strain they picked.

We see flu deaths every year. Usually the old and infirm. Last year was different, we saw two people die one in his late teens the other in their early 20’s from the H1N1 flu, neither with any chronic conditions. It was very unusual for a facility our sized and too early in the season. Our ID guys were in a panic, thankfully, we saw other strains in the flu season.

I don’t know why you would refuse the flu shot because on H1N1, if it did not have that strain, it would definitely have another swine flu strain.

True, there has been alot of effort to show that there is no link between vaccines and autism. I’m just making the case that they aren’t studying the “hot shot” scenario, and the effects of high concentrations of these preservatives.

U have taken flu shorts every year since they stopped using a live flu virus, 2 years ago I had a strange skin reaction that my E&T said might be from the preservative. He advised me to only take a flu shot that had no preservative. It was hard to find last year but I finally found it at all places, Walgreens. Has your facility gotten any flu vaccine without preservatives this year? I am wondering if it will be hard to find again.
