But the bigger question is, can any politician or group of politicians be able to break apart the structures of industrial and financial power that have been built up around a powerful government? Can they for example, limit the power of corporations and the giant industrial complex? Can they roll back the power of the unions? Can they ward off the power of the national and international money changers and power brokers that influence government decisions? The answer of course, is no. Only the people, en masse, can undo that power, if they are of one mind.
The road back to freedom can only be taken by those Americans who demand freedom, no matter what the cost. If elections wont restore freedom, are there other peaceful ways to reclaim our Constitutional Republic, when the nation is so divided between the millions who want something FROM government and those other millions who want to be left ALONE by government? Can freedom be restored without violence? We teeter on the brink of enslavement and revolution. An ill wind could determine which way the teeter totter will fall.
And even more complicated than the method to restore American freedom, is to define what freedom really means in the year 2010, when over 300,000,000 Americans now reside in the 50 states. In our first revolution to establish freedom, there were only about 3,000,000 people in 13 loosely-knit colonies who claimed to be Americans and wanted to BE Americans, not British subjects. And even just a small portion of those 3,000,000 were willing to take up the sword and the gun against the dictatorial rule of King George III. That small portion won liberty for all Americans. Will a small portion of our 300,000,000 people again be required to restore freedom?

Conservatism -- REAL conservatism -- means rolling back 100 YEARS of socialist treachery. So YES, I DO want to do away with Social Security, and Medicare, and welfare, and unions, and most federal departments (all those created in the 20th century, to start with), and abortion "rights," and federal regulations on business... the list goes ON AND ON!
One can only hope.
Unless they impeach him for the Black Panthers case and the BC - not much will change. The left/Saudis/islam control the 6 TV networks through shareholdings, investments and joint ventures. TV is ALL propaganda and they control it. Yeah yeah Fox/Saudia right.
We didn’t get in this mess over night, and we sure aren’t going to get out of it that way.
But, God willing, we are going to make the first of many steps in the right direction!
And TERM LIMITS should definitely be part of the agenda.
It may be to late, but I’ll do my part.
I think it’s more Will They, rather than Can They. Even if most of the new Senators running are victorious and with a whole lot of push from DeMint, I wonder if it will be enough this first round. The continued support of Murkowski by the old guard pretty much says it all. If we can get a strong leader in the House, they might accomplish something. IMO, to say that from now to the end of the year could prove to be very is an understatement.
We have a long way to go but it will be a great start. The first step.
Not on your life. Any improvements in Washington as a result of this election will be marginal, at best.

I am with you brother. Thank you for your service.
Hell no.
An awake, knowledge-armed, and active citizenry will do that.
This is just the cannon shot to let them know that we weren’t kidding.
No, it is only a start. The heavy load is still in front of us.
Not completely. We won’t get all that need to go, but it will a grand beginning to purge that Washington cespool of RINO’s and liberal nut-cases.
Rome wasn't...
We didn't get here overnight.
Entitlement programs have paid off big time for the Dems.
I have been screaming this for 40 years now! But it seems that no one sees the connection.......
They have made it clear they do not care and will not listen.
No, but it is the first step on the long journey back to RESTORING the vision of our Founders.

I have little hope that my vote in November will restore anything. There are too many establishment politicians in the GOP (Romney McCain, Graham...the list goes on) who must meet their doom at the hands of patriots in primaries before the Republican party can really begin to roll back the clock. The halfhearted “pledge” to roll things back to 2008 is proof).
At best, in November we get a check on Obama enacting anything else. Maybe start up some investigations.
Then in 2012, we may get a real conservative president and get rid of more RINOs.
Then we can seriously cut government spending by double digit percentages.
No, for that you need a leader.
I will vote against every incumbent irregardless of party. It will only be when every current politician is gone that there will be even a slim hope of restoring anything...
God controls ALL the networks. Talk about a monopoly!
I don’t know that we would ever know which single vote puts us over the top. I do know, however, that none of the votes not cast will do it...
It’s time to take back the country.
I think the vote in November is a step in the right direction, but I think it will take a while to get where we want to go. The restoration of constitutional order is a very tall order just because of how long it has been in disorder. After generations of ever creeping tyranny, the kind of world that order creates seems quite foreign to many and “consent of the goverened” is essential to success. It will take some convincing for most Americans to accept it as we show them that we really are better off that way.
I think the recent “Pledge to America” is a good start on that journey (although some things in it are just warm fuzzy fluff and at least two essential things are left out - judicial and tax reform). It will start by reining in abuse of power delegated to the Executive, and this is by no means inconsequential especially at a time when we have economic issues stemming directly from a President who believes himself a dictator.
At any rate, I believe next year is going to be a very interesting one on the political front and so I think I will invest in stocks of a popcorn maker. :D
I agree that the full measure of healing will only come after a long period of effort, but every war has some point of inflection, some moment when the tide begins to turn, when the weary warriors gather new strength because they see a real chance at victory. November, if it goes well, could be just such a moment, and for that it should not be undervalued.
“Not on your life. Any improvements in Washington as a result of this election will be marginal, at best.”
Anyone that expects this country will turn back 100 years of socialism in one election is delusional. The 2010 elections are one step in a long journey.
Soooo ... every single incumbent is a sociopathic communist who has contributed nothing to the cause of freedom? That’s a tough sell.
I for one would trade both Durbin and Burris as a twofer in exchange for just one Inhofe or Coburn or DeMint. And I’d trade Phil Hare and any two, no, any four other Congressmen from either party to get Bachmann. Shoot, for the Bachmann deal I’d even throw in the Mayor of Chicago and Governor Quinn.
No. And I don't think my garden will feed the world either. But it helps.
So will my vote in November.
I live in AZ. So no.
IN this this liberal media created reality, it would take 100 years of Republicans with a super majority in the Senate to repeal all these laws and reduce government size.
The liberal media blamed Republicans for the big government created by democrats and will do it again knowing full well Republicans need at least a super majority or 2/3 majority to override an Obama veto.
The UN is Americas enemy within. We need to remove this cesspool from American soil. Those politicians we cozy up to thses cretans are cretans themselves. Along with the many issues we face with our newly elected come November is this diabolical shadow government we call the UN
No one is irreplaceable, true, but your solution is to cure a brain tumor by replacing the entire brain. Not good logic, and really terrible medicine. Smart citizens who love their country do not kill their government; they reform it. If we don’t have the clarity of values to discern who has been naughty and who has been nice, then no matter who we pick as replacements, our leaders will never be more than a reflection of our own moral ambiguity, and even a wholesale replacement will do nothing to correct the problem. Smart reform, or no reform at all.
But the simple concept of refusing to vote for any incumbent may be something they can grasp..
Sweeping generalizations are a trap for the unwary. The American electorate is having a teachable moment. I am not so willing as you to underestimate the educational effect of a direct confrontation with the totalitarian ugliness beneath the leftist mask, such as we are now experiencing.
As to which of us is right, time will tell. But as for me, I will, for purposes of the current exercise, assume that most of my fellow Americans are decent people who are capable of distinguishing proven public servants from totalitarian thugs, and will act accordingly come November and beyond.
