Yeah, that's right. Let's blame Colbert for this farce. Let's indict the comedian for doing an act for Congress. Let's be sure & arrest the strippers, too, when they “testify”. But don't arrest the ventriloquist act, as that seems truly instructive.

Let's reelect a Congress that prefers entertainment at a committee hearing rather that serious discussion of legislation. Can we move Neverland Ranch to the Mall?

He was very careful when talking about the people he worked with that day, to NOT say whether they were illegal or not.

And he made ONE good point — a republican was questioning him, and got him to admit that some of those he worked with might have been legal. Then the republican said “So, we know that americans will do the work”. COlbert (I think he may have had a prompter sitting with him to feed him information) pointed out that “legal” doesn’t mean only “American”, it could include legal immigrants.

The black panther voting rights intimidation case isn’t going away. They may have deflected attention for a short time but the BP story has legs.

We don't need it to have legs. We need for it to have impact. Now.

We're ~6 weeks away from the mid-term elections, and this is an issue that - if it hits in a big way - could swing 6-8 House seats in the GOP's favor. If it turns out to be a close-run thing with the House, those seats could determine whether Issa is the Chairman and able to issue subponeas ... or ranking Minority member and able to complain loudly as the issue is backburnered.

The single best opportunity for it to have impact was yesterday with Coates' testimony. Instead everyone is talking about f*cking Colbert.

True contempt of Congress and the American Citizen was shown by Zoe Lofgren (D) who chairs the committee and who invited this smartmouth trash to “testify”.

The solution to Colbert is to never watch or listen to anything he presents; the solution to Lofgren is an immediate ethics complaint and voting her fat Rat ass out of office a.s.a.p.

Yeah, I’m not sure what to make of it either. Maybe I’m giving this congresswoman too much credit, but it seems like it would take about 1 minute of analysis to figure out what a disaster it would turn into by inviting him - and letting him play his character to boot!

This is what makes me think she thought he was just an outspoken Republican - one who has a comedy show - but who is nonetheless expressing true Republican views - and she wanted his views seen by as many folks as possible, realizing it would be cycled over and over.

The Speaker of the House Pelosi said Colbert is an American and has a right to speak. Well Mrs. Pelosi, why don’t you feel the same way about the Tea Partiers? I guess only a select group of Americans (Hollywood, libs and ivy league grads) have the right to speak in your mind. I do not care anything about Stephen Colbert one way or another.

What would like to see is CONGRESSMEN being indicted for lying to Congress. If it became illegal for Congressmen to lie to Congress, this would change America for the better.

The people that should be indicted are the congress critters who brought him on the hill in the first place. Telling jokes is what Colbert does and should be a given- all he is really doing (not his intention) is exposing the joke of that entire body who wastes their time and our money with stunts like this.
