We take it for granted that, in an emergency, someone will risk their lives to save ours. A house fire. A traffic accident in a volatile neighborhood, A stroke... the list goes on. Regardless of the emergency, there are first responders who put their own lives on the line willingly to save yours.

Read about one singer/songwriter who also happens to be a volunteer fireman himself as he begins a North American push to honor ALL the first responders and acknowledges their heroic and unselfish acts. You may never look at an ambulance, police car or fire truck in the same way again.

If only there was some way we could prevent those few adrenalin-junky, authority-fetishist, bad apple, volunteer firefighter first responders from occasionally lighting a structure fire when “business” is too slow to suit ‘em, then my old dad would have one more barn than he does.

I’m currently studying to be an EMT. At the end of the text book there is a section on terrorism. There is a whole paragraph about “anti-abortion” and “pro-freedom” extremists and absolutely no mention of Islamic terrorism. The only time it comes close is when it says “Taliban militants have been associated with terrorism” as if they were falsely accused! 9/11 truther idiots wrote the standards which will determine whether or not you will live or die!

I’m no longer excited about entering the profession. There is truly no hope for anyone.
