Keep in mind many of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christians.

Bullshit....what all three of them?

BTW, being a Deist does not exclude the belief in Christ, unless you are following the DUmmie interpretations of it.....and I don't think you are.

He believed that Jesus was a great man but not Divine.

There are a lot of mis-conceptions on the belief's of Jefferson.
==================
Most intriguing is the manner in which Jefferson dated an official document.
Instead of "in the year of our Lord," Jefferson used the phrase "in the year of our Lord Christ."

Christian historian David Barton has the proof ... the original document signed by Jefferson on the "eighteenth day of October in the year of our Lord Christ, 1804."

Oh please!

I’ve been listening to Beck for years. He has ABSOLUTELY not influenced my doctrinal beliefs in any way, shape, or form. Do you really believe his theology make what he has to say about the political scene and the dangers therein any less valuable? I think not! He’s a TV commentator, not a theologian, and I’ll continue to listen to him and support him because he’s doing a job that no one else has been willing to do for a long time. He exposes the left on national TV, and that’s a good thing!

BTW. his “religious” statements may not be what meets your standards but I’ve noticed on his TV show he has many sound theologians and he lets them speak and say their piece...not trying to influence their message to his audience.

I don’t yet get the sense that Glenn is ‘fleeing to Ghandi’ for The answer. I am at this point sure he is instructing that we can learn a thing or two from a man of peaceful revolution. What is going unaddressed is the implication in Glenn’s current direction, admonishing not to react to the pushing from the regime. I think Glenn senses that the pushing is going to soon take a trun for the nasty; as Andy Stern said, ‘First we try the power of persuasion, then when it stops working, we use the persuasion of power.’ Glenn senses that violent shinanigans are soon to erupt, caused by the frustrated progressive regime which doesn’t see the final destruction of this Republic arriving fast enough for them to enjoy the chaos.

"Keep in mind many of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christians." If you had been more attentive watching Glenn's show, you would know that your assertion is very inaccurate.

I will point out, since this thread is actually about Christian apologetics, that Glenn has a major inconsistency in his message if indeed he wishes to proselytize for Mormonism--and I am not yet persuaded that he is trying that. You see, Glenn has actually focused upon the deeply Christian character of the founding fathers, yet his chosen religion is founded upon the specious notion that ALL of Christianity was in TOTAL Apostasy since the second century until the coming of Joseph Smith to restore Christianity in the 1830's.

The founders would not have had the 'benefit' of restoration thus their Christian character would be anathema to the assertions of the man who founded Glenn's religion!

Yes I did, and that isn't the point of my posts.

As it was a few nights ago when I was defending Beck (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2601419/posts) against a de facto smear because he is Mormon and therefore not worthy of an objective and accurate opinion...it just seems lately, to me anyway, there is an orchestrated smear campaign going on here.

Look at the amount of threads that have been posted on this subject in the last hour....

de·ism [dee-iz-uhm]

–noun 1. belief in the existence of a god on the evidence of reason and nature only, with rejection of supernatural revelation ( distinguished from theism).

2. belief in a God who created the world but has since remained indifferent to it. _____________________________________________________ Both definitions exclude Christianity since it is based on the supernatural and that God intervenes. How many were Deists I don't know but certainly Jefferson was, otherwise he would have not been so bold as to redact the Bible to remove the supernatural. Do a search on "Jefferson Bible." Also do a search on Founding Fathers Deism and you will find that Franklin, Paine, Adams, and Washington are also included. If you find out differently let me know.

Glenn Beck is getting more and more difficult to listen to on the radio, the continual referring to Gandhi. Sure Gandhi was great for dealing with issues in India - nonviolence and so forth. But he was not a christian, nor should he be revered as some great religious icon. Glenn Beck needs to get back God, and move away from Mormonism. This is one problem of Mormonism, it strives to blend everything into its own religious experience. Mormonism is based on a false premise - Joseph Smith received the tablets from the angel Moroni. The Book of Mormon takes precedence over the Holy Bible.

Mormonism is not viewed by all Christian denominations as a Christian Church, but that of a cult, similar to that of the seventh Day Adventist, Christian Science and Jehovah Witneses ( all three of these churches were started by woamn in the 1800s around the same time as Mormonism - Church of latter Day Saints).

Mahtma ghandi was revered as a god like figure in hindu religion.

does Glenn Beck want us people in America to view him as a God like figure. Sure he has some interesting views on Obama and so forth, but his pilgrimage in the tenents of Gandhi is going a little overboard. Hey Glenn beck come back to the real world and throw gandhi by the wayside stick to America.

India has its own set of problems - the Caste system and the untouchables - a population of people whom are still considered to this date a people that has no purpose. Oddly enough Gandhi advocated the caste system and the untouchables.

America views many of its poor and disabled like the untouchables.

There appears to be a growing sense among conservatives and Christians, that Beck has hidden agendas, and exotic unChristian beliefs that don’t mesh with his becoming America’s national preacher to Christian conservatives.

You know how Christians are, they are going to speak out when they perceive a threat to Christianity, or America, or conservatism.

Where does it come from?

I admit I only see him on his TV show and I certainly have to say I haven't seen or heard what you are inferring.

Hey, I'm the first one to admit if I'm wrong, I certainly cannot watch and be aware of everthing that is happening, so if you could enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

That's why I am here, to keep up and stay informed.

In defense of Glenn Beck, I find it really hard to believe that he truly believes in the Book of Mormon. He may say he does, but I challenge anyone to watch this video (The Bible vs. The Book of Mormon) and then come back and tell me that Glenn Beck believes that the Book of Mormon is accurate.

If he does, well, then his views of America and our history are bound to be pretty distorted.

Fair enough, oy more work to do....

I can tell you this though, Washington was no Deist, just read his writings and you'll see, same with Jefferson.

Read the Constitution,

and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity

The Constitution is signed "In the year of our Lord" (Jesus Christ)

Fine you do what you want, I however, though I believe he has some good political (and historical) points, do not ~chose~ to listen to Glenn Beck in general.

Glenn Beck has his own video, telling the world that he does believe in the Book of Mormon.

I am one of those conservatives whom sees that Glenn Beck has agenda. But keep in mind I also think he is being influenced by Bill O’reilly.

Yes Beck is critical of Obama and the other marxists that are part of the current administration.

But his agenda is that there will be a new group that will fill the void that comes about by the problems that the obam administration creates. Is the Mormon church to be the answer to the downfall of america because of Obama. This would be a theocracy.

I get so tired of hearing about creating a food supply fr an entire year. I live in the country in the Up of Michigan, i have enough supplies in terms of foodstuffs to last in case of being stranded for 2 weeks because of excesive snowfall. a generator that has natural gas back up for emergencies.

Also all this about gold. I can well remember back in the 1980s when returning to the states from lebanon, and going to college purchasing of gold was all the rage. Ronald Reagn was the president and people were panicking in 1985.

Come now in America we need to be reasonable, but I am having some difficulties with Glenn Beck. But is it possible that Glenn Beck is not getting enough sleep and his supposed health problems are related to his lack of adequate sleep. and his questionable views are because he is tired out. Just a thought.

The ecumenical movement desires that all mankind can get to heaven and that there are many ways to get to heaven. This is a wrong headed view. The only true way and the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ
