Whatever you are paying .. It's too much!

Since you didn't elaborate on why you think you need to use a proxy or what you are spending .. All that I can say is .. You can't hide from the Law!

In saying that .. Go to your local library or Wherever and do your ... 'anonymous' surfing from there!
(Just make sure that you don't need to use your library card) 8)

You can find free anonymous surfing proxies.

Keep in mind that whatever service you use, your surfing history will be available to the anonymous proxy servers. You need to find out what their policy is on how long they retain that history (and then determine whether or not you believe that they follow their stated policy). If the government asks for their records, they WILL turn over all of the records they still have on their servers.

If you don't have a SSL connection (https) to the anonymous proxy, your ISP will also have access to all of your surfing history. If you do have an SSL connection to the anonymous proxy, everything that goes through your ISP will be encrypted.

Finally, even if the anonymous proxy service destroys all of you browsing history hourly, and even if they offer an SSL connection so that your ISP doesn't have any clear-text browsing history, your own computer retains several browsing history files. Even if you delete all of these files from your own computer, the data can be easily retrieved. Though, there are programs available that will "wipe" your disk of any data left behind after those files are erased.

Anonymous browsing is not an easy thing to do.

It is a crazy world, whether you are in the Cyber or the Real one.

Same thing goes for the Cyber world as it does for the Real one!
Be careful, be aware and do everything as if someone were looking over your shoulder!

about 3 days ago someone posted a website called WOPULAR
http://www.wopular.com and stated that if you entered your online screen name in their aggregator search information about you and where you post comes in their “mega-search”

I went to their search box and entered my screen name from Free Republic. Lo and behold not only did my name come appear but others here @ Free Republic also .........

now knowing that my screen name and comments here @ FR are NOT PROTECTED and obviously anyone else here is subject to public scrutiny of this sort makes me wonder ......do I want to wind up on political/free speech enemies list ??

What is JR’s (Jim Robinson)and FR policy on dissemination of information to aggregators?

Does JR need to lock down member’s names and profile info? ‘cause I saw my simple profile page from when i first joined along with others!!

this isn’t good imho

perhaps someone should alert a Admin Mod & pass this info i’m sharing along to JR

I went to wopular and you are correct. My FR profile showed up as well as my former tagline. There was other info there that had nothing to with me.

let’s think of everyone else here, too, because this is why i posted my thread! this is crazynutz - so now every Freeper is not only available to have their name posted but their postings here @FR scrutinized

prior to joining FR i hung around here a lot w/o posting anything and it was way prior to the last pres election. i wanted to get a feel for what i was getting into before i submitted a screen name and a profile. I also realized at the time the information i would post would be subject to comment (ha!) as we all are , correct? I understood that googling was in the mix too, and at first light this WOPULAR seems to have their finger on FR and it’s member and member’s comments.........

It’s amazing to sign in here @ FR w/pw and then find your screen name FROM here publicly available!

I wonder what JR has to say about this - was this information from FR sold?mined?turfed?ripped-off?

what do you think?
