This is a pretty simple progression for the MSM. First, they don't name the party, and simply refer to him as Rep. Condit. They hope that many people will think "Rep." means "Republican" rather than "Representative". Then some other media moron falls for it, and really does think it means "Republican", so they expand it accordingly.
It's a neat trick. Nobody actually lies, they simply do this with a combination of subtle deception, followed by incompetence. Isn't it wonderful that we have professional journalists who are held to higher standards than bloggers?
