I don’t think ‘shaking’ is really common in weaponry...
I have seen the idiots that rotate a handgun to the side to somehow look tough but I haven’t seen them shaking it.
To brandish a firearm means to show, wave or point it in a manner which others find threatening.
Given that the guy with the watermelon is apparently an amateur special-effects guy, it is highly plausible that there was no actual shot.
They both ought to be arrested for stupidity.
So, armed with a watermelon, a fireworks, and a 50 cal rifle plus a blank, you get this video.
100 meters with a BMG? I could probably make that shot with a 9mm but would never try with a live target (even a deer).
If the shot was 1000 meters, now we're talkin'
We’ve been scammed. The melon was blown up from the inside. If you watch the video closely you see smoke and the pieces flying apart equally in all directions. If it was a real shot there would be no smoke and in order to conserve momentum the pieces would be away from the shot.
What gives it away is the fingers in his ears. He’s worried about the cherry bomb about to go off on top of his head.
He’s too far away to worry about the noise from the rifle.
There is an actual legal definition of "brandish"
In this case, the exception falls under something like consensual experimentation or stunt work.
I wonder if the shooter had the good sense to get some legal waiver or documentation.
Or, as others have said- a gimmick to make shooters look bad.
Best regards,
Very convincing, but nobody could be that stupid.
Not somebody that owns a .50, for crying out loud.
Best regards,

No, that’s a different definition; it includes “point it [firearm] in a manner which others find threatening.”
By what right do you have to change or alter definitions?
Is not that selfsame arbitrary alteration of definitions how the Supreme Court can say that “No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed” REALLY means “No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto *CRIMINAL* Law shall be passed”? [See Calder v. Bull; 1798] Or that the non-sale of wheat within a state by a farmer growing said wheat is interstate commerce? [Wickard v. Filburn] Or that “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation” REALLY MEANS “nor shall private property be taken for use, without just compensation” [Keelo v. New London]? Or that there are ‘penumbras’ and ‘emanations’ within the Constitution that forbid the Several States to enact laws protecting their unborn citizens [Roe v. Wade]?
Okay, I'm with you that its a fake. That means he is not that stupid but he ranks up there with one from the "brady bunch". The only point of the video was to make shooters look like fools.
This = HE SUCKS!
I do appreciate your attention to detail, I got worked up by the stupidity of the whole thing and didn't watch closely. Thank you for picking up the slack.
One, no visual signature of bullet impact on the hill behind the target. Google .50 cal shots and watch any number of them - always a big visual signature at bullet impact.
Two, no vapor trail from the barrel - big supersonic rounds often (ok, but not always) leave a visible wake. Snipers/spotters from Afghanistan have noted the effect.
Notice how the pieces fly into the direction of the bullet and the smoke billows out behind him. Clearly a firecracker hidden from view exploded it.
I only ask because FR is included in the "blogroll" on the site that hosts this video.
If so, I don't speak for everyone but us gun people on FR don't appreciate our home linked to things like this.
Good catch. Solved.
When I post Codrea or other stuff there are usually duplicate reposts.
Best regards,
Oh I see, so instead of firing a .50 round at the watermelon, watermelon head played it safe, and put explosives in the melon, enough to explode the melon and send fragments of the melon 50 feet away?
Glad melon head played it safe.
Thanks for the cordial reply, I was just wondering.
Best regards,
