How the NRSC, Cornyn, Graham and Rove lost the GOP as many as five Senate seats
Doug Ross @ Journal ^ | 11/6/2010 | Doug Ross

The National Republican Senatorial Committee spent $3 million in the week before the election on the ill-fated campaign of Carly Fiorina, despite polling that showed her trailing by 9 points to the tiny Marxist Barbara Boxer (Fiorina ended up losing by... 9.8%).

In the mean time, Ken Buck lost by a tiny margin in Colorado; Nevada's Sharron Angle lost by a similar narrow vote total, Dino Rossi was edged by Patty Murray in Washington, 27,000 votes swung the election against Christine O'Donnell in Delaware and and Joe Miller is hanging by a thread in Alaska.

In Alaska, the final results may not be known for some time, but the NRSC's final ads actually ended up helping Lisa Murkowski in her write-in campaign against GOP nominee Joe Miller. Instead of attacking Murkowski -- the candidate who most threatened the party's nominee -- the NRSC instead took aim at Democrat Scott McAdams, who had no chance of winning. Any support they drove from McAdams was far more likely to go to Murkowski than to Miller -- meaning the NRSC effort probably did more harm than good for Miller's campaign.

In other words, the NRSC's idiocy -- combined with outrageous remarks by Karl Rove on national television -- likely doomed four or five true conservative candidates to extinction.

In the post-election debrief, the Nixonian RINO contingent of Whimsy Graham, John Cornyn and the rest of the NRSC's ludicrous cadre of losers blamed... staunch conservative Jim DeMint, who had funded a handful of Tea Party-backed Senatorial winners like Pat Toomey (PA), Marco Rubio (FL), Rand Paul (KY), Mike Lee (UT) and Ron Johnson (WI).

Oh, but that $8 million spent on Fiorina's campaign didn't hurt at all -- right, boys?

That’s because in reality it’s global elites versus the people. The elites don’t support the people, regardless of party.

There is one so-called Republican organization, the National Republican Senate Committee that I refuse to give one cent. This is controlled by a bunch of rich liberal Republicans who have no use for us regular American folk.

Very good points. Plus, with having to garner 60 votes in order to move a bill through the Senate, even with a Republican majority, the Dems would have made sure nothing the Republicans put forward would pass.

Just the same, I am disappointed at the poor campaigns run by Fiorina and Whitman here in CA. Boxer and Brown were so beatable. Both had high negative ratings. Fiorina’s campaign was a joke.

” I know one thing: that $3 million spent in the final weeks on those five campaigns could have swung four or five seats to the GOP.”

American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS spent 38 million running ads all over the country helping get Republicans elected nationwide.
No other group raised as much.
They coordinated with candidates and conservative groups and shared resources and strategy in a way that has never been done before by Republicans.
They plan on running ads during the lame duck session of Congress against the Democrats.
The two organizations are founded by Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie .

“One of this election cycle’s major third party groups is announcing it will spend more than four million dollars in the next week
in its largest media buy of the season spread across eight of the key Senate battlegrounds.
In an effort to help elect Republicans in these races,
American Crossroads will spend almost $800,000
in Colorado and $350,000 in Nevada while its affiliate Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (GPS) is buying time in Illinois,
Washington state, Missouri,
Kentucky and Pennsylvania. “

This was not idiocy. It was intentional.
Jim DeMint MUST challenge Cornyn for the chairmanship of the NSRSC in an all out scorched earth campaign. Win or lose, DeMint must destroy Cornyn and take him out of that position. It would be Jim DeMint's most important campaign and cause to date. We need DeMint to do this. It is his calling. This is no time for him to back down, fall in line, or play the Washington Party game. Do you hear us calling, Jim?

This is a weak half analysis, since it does not take into account the ENORMOUS resources the DNC and Obama bin Biden had to expend to counter in California.

I had not given a thought to that. Thank you for pointing that out.

It's interesting that after the wipe-out of the democrats, some freepers post any no-account blogger they can find to whine about not getting a supposed 100% victory.

How about realizing some of the candidates were not going to get elected no matter what.

If the respective campaign managers couldn't figure out how to run a winning campaign, maybe the issue is the manager himself. Sometimes the opposition just has better political talent.

Excellent. I concur with your analysis. I have no love for any RINO country club type, but what the heck? We won big. In the wake of such a great victory why start a bickering contest over what might have been?

Let’s enjoy the huge victory and work to try and make greater gains against Democrats and the Republican establishment RINOs in ‘12.

They knew what they were doing-hedging their bets so that if 'Murk' won she wouldn't be mad at them.

"Barbara Boxer was a tempting target due to her high negative ratings. Conservatives (myself included) didn’t think that Californians who disliked Boxer would vote for her, but some of them clearly did."

In the late summer of 2009, Larry Elder went to Cornyn and the NRSC to solicit their support in running against Boxer. He was rejected in favor of Fiorina. I contend that Elder would have been both more energizing to the conservative base, drawn a larger minority vote and squelched liberal turn out. In short, he would have had a far better chance at winning.

By that reasoning, COD did a great job, since they has to spend a greal of resources in Del.

Rove continues to gloat over being right about O’Donnell losing.

That stroker would rather be right than do right. It is all about him. A pox on'im.

Here is the silver lining. We conservatives have established a huge beachhead in this past election. The RINO Whineo’s are screaming not because we cost the Republican Party control of the senate but rather because we are very near to over throwing them and their elitist rule of the Republican Party.

In the future do not send any money to any National RINO Committee. Send the money but sent it straight to a real conservative. It would be far better to a RINO loose than to have a Fifth Column in our ranks working against us.

The party as a whole sucks. I don’t even tell people that I am a Republican anymore, I say I’m a conservative.

Amen, Brother!

I think the failure to get at least two more Senate seats was a disaster. If we win the presidency in 2012, we still need at least 60 votes in the Senate to break a filibuster of Obamacare repeal. As of today, we are 13 short, and I don’t think we will get nearly that many in 2012.

Once the “benefits” start kicking in, it may be impossible to get rid of this monstrosity as there will be too many people dependent on it. Health care will be the way for the left to rule America forever. Even if it is not in power, its policies will still be in force. We are this close to being royally screwed for generations.

The article names some of the people we can thank.

*****Rove, Lott, Graham are a disgrace and even Steele and other high up leaders who are not quite as bad*****

I’m beginning to believe Michael Steele was used by Rove and others as the fall-guy. Steele could never match Rove’s PAC and stop the internal backstabbing. The failure of GOP leadership to support conservative nominees, or stay neutral tripped and trapped Steele, causing RNC donations to plummet.

I don’t know about 5, but they could have at least saved a couple of those if they weren’t so RINO-ish.

I wrote something similar to this on Thursday.

As far as I am concerned come January we are on a two front war.

I want to wipe out to Benedict Arnold’s even more than I want the democrats.

Vermin like this need eradication.

I see Roves name on the roster list and I will thump on him every chance I get.

I will send money directly to a democrat just to make a point.

Graham, Alexander NRSC, et all. Don’t care.

This election should have been a tsunami that washed away any democrat hopes for staving off our demands and followed by an earthquake that flattened any thing left.

FUKR, FUMR, FULG, FULA and a very heartfelt FUNRSC.

Fags.

That’s 27,000 due in large part to that fat ass Karl Rove who just couldn’t STFU on top of Castles shenanigans.

Even after the election that snide buffet eating over achiever couldn’t top flapping his lips.

Friggin’ sociopaths.
