Name That Party: Another Criminal Democrat Goes Unidentified by Old Media
Publius Forum ^ | 11/13/10 | Warner Todd Huston

Every now and again I like to play "name that party." This is the fun parlor game where you read a story about a politician that has either been indicted, arrested, or imprisoned and try to guess by the story from which party he hails. If you read the story and no political party affiliation is mentioned, 99 out of 100 times you can be sure that the troubled pol is a Democrat. However, if it is a Republican that is going to jail or to court his party usually makes the first paragraph if not the headline itself.

Well, today we have yet another edition of "name that party" going on in the Old Dominion where Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson and his wife Leslie have been arrested and charged with tampering with a witness in connection with a criminal offense and destruction of evidence in a federal investigation. Johnson is a Democrat, not that the news helps you learn that little factoid.

As this is breaking news, the story has popped up on the AP, the Washington Post, Reuters, and several other sources. The stories are filled with all sorts of details about the case, what the charges are, the particulars of the crime, the names and offices of those accused, their ages, where they live… all these things fill the various stories that announce the arrest. But one tiny little detail seems to have escaped many of the news stories: the fact that Johnson is a Democrat. It seems like they just plum forgot to mention his political party.

You are shocked, I am sure....

Once again the media somehow ignores that this criminal politician is a Democrat.

I'd be shocked if you posted the whole content instead of needlessly excerpting.

I remember in 2002 Ohio Democrat James Traficant was expelled from Congress. The CNN scroll on the screen read something like House votes to expel Jim Traficant Ohio rep. ... (rep. being short for representative). My Democratic father-in-law sees the screen and says “there's another corrupt Republican”.

I guess this quote:

"“The only end of writing is to enable the reader better to enjoy life, or better to endure it.”
–Samuel Johnson

...which the author posts at the end of each article is either just lip service, or perhaps the members of the FreeRepublic forum do not qualify as "readers."

The original article I saw last night identified him as a Democrat. It was about half way through it.

“...in the Old Dominion where Prince George’s County Executive...”

OK I’m just a Michigander transplanted to California, but isn’t Prince George’s County in Maryland whilst the Old Dominion refers to Virginia?

The proper response to this is to “over-label” the story, and put it front and center in public forums, with that deadly (D) right next to his name with every use. It is hilarious to put it in as a follow up to their own article, if they permit submissions. Makes the writer and editor cringe.

For example, rewriting this story:

“Prince George’s County elected Democrat Executive Jack B. Johnson (D) addressed reporters following his appearance in court Friday evening on charges of tampering with a witness in connection with a criminal offense and destruction of evidence in a federal investigation.

“I’m innocent of these charges,” Democrat Jack B. Johnson (D) said. “I just can’t wait for the facts to come out. When they come out, I’m absolutely convinced I’ll be vindicated.”

Democrat Johnson (D) deflected questions about serving out his term, as the elected Democrat serving as County Executive, which ends in December. “I’m the (Democrat who was) elected executive of Prince George’s,” Jack B. Johnson (D) said.”

He did not answer other questions.

Since this little practice of the MSM first started being noticed ten or so years ago, I’ve see a few leftnut tricksters do it with Republicans, so you have to watch the dirty little boogers, but as a rule, a filthy, corrupt politicians who goes unidentified as to party is a Democrap.

To all

Prince George County Maryland, where this miscreant resides is hard core democrat and has had RAT corruption scandals going on there for years. Still that does nothing to change the voting habits there.
