The Coming Latino Revolt
Daily Beast ^ | December 2, 2010 | Bryan Curtis

It’s zero hour for the DREAM Act...For two years, Barack Obama failed—or, if you prefer, refused—to nudge along a major immigration bill. The last-ditch hope is that departing Democrats, and a few Republicans, somehow band together in the lame-duck session and pass a law allowing illegal immigrants who came to the United States as minors to gain citizenship. Harry Reid promised to bring up the bill for a Senate cloture vote this week. Republicans vowed to scuttle it...

But as Chicago congressman Luis Gutiérrez prepares for a rally at a church in Brooklyn, the DREAM Act seems like the end of his interest in congressional gamesmanship rather than the start. Gutiérrez is one of several Hispanic leaders who have found themselves politically estranged from the president. Moreover, they are numbed by the legislative process that denied them a vote on immigration reform, much less a victory, when Democrats controlled both houses of Congress...“The opportunity to have gotten it done is gone.”

The DREAM Act, Gutiérrez says, is for now his final legislative maneuver. He’s finished waiting for the mythical 60th vote to materialize in the Senate. No, when the lame duck ends, Gutiérrez and his movement allies will ask for a divorce—from the Democratic Party...To hear Gutiérrez tell it, Hispanic leaders are about to stage a full-tilt campaign of direct action, like the African-American civil-rights movement of the 1960s. There will be protests, marches, sit-ins—what César Chávez might have called going rogue. The movement will operate autonomously, no longer beholden to wavering Democrats, filibustering Republicans, and—perhaps most tantalizingly—no longer beholden to Barack Obama...

Riots in the streets may be how things are done in the third world hell holes your average Hispanic illegal immigrant comes from.......

But we have little tolerance for it in the USA.

I say bring it on. Let us see the ugly face of our foreign invaders, let them wave the Mexican flag and talk about “reconquest”.

Noting could do more to make America resolved to END our illegal labor problem.

We wouldn't have a problem with illegal immigration if not for illegal labor.

When illegal labor is made economically nonviable, we will no longer have a big problem with illegal immigration.

Here’s my Dream Act:

We put together two large teams of Special Ops guys.

One team works with LEOs and deputized citizens to start rounding up every last illegal.

The other team drops in and secures the main airport in, say, Somalia.

We start shipping every last illegal, regardless of country of origin, to Somalia. When we finish, we bring the Somalia team home.

To save time and effort on our part, and out of compassionate regard for our illegal brothers and sisters, we first give them a month to get back to their countries of origin voluntarily before implimenting this plan.

It backfired on them the last time, during good economic times. Remember the big demos for amnesty a couple of summers ago? It will backfire worse if they try it again now.

I sooooo HOPE they take to the streets again with their Mexican flags, that will be the final straw needed to start kicking their butts out in mass.

EXACTLY what I was thinking.

They didn't learn last time?

The “Day without a Mexican” was a complete bust here in California.

The demonstrations a couple years ago drove the nail in the coffin so hard, that even 0bama with a Donkey House and Senate didn't fall on THAT sword.

I hope that Loo-ees holds one big rally. He can bring the riders and we will bring the buses. They will be
“encouraged” to take advantage of the free ride home.......

Complimentary water and a sack lunch are provided...........

Handcuffs too......................... for EXTRA convincing.

I want to see INS surround one of these rallies in mass, and check the immigration status of EVERY SINGLE PERSON there!

And have about 1,000 buses standing by to take them straight to the nearest port, put on a garbage barge heading to the southern most point of Mexico at 5 knots, in stormy seas!

what César Chávez might have called going rogue.

César Chávez was against illegal immigration because it cut the wages of his farm workers, as it continues to do for most American workers.

Yes, but the interesting part is that they are turning on Obama and defying him.

You all must not listen to Glenn Beck. Van Jones has said the radicals will have to come into the street "to force Obama to do what Obama knows is right." If the DREAM Act fails, and the illegals riot, I believe that Obama will legalize them by pardon. When Republican congressmen, governors and state legislatures rebel, Obama will move regular troops and his private army of former illegals to make hostages of them (as the Roman Senate was of the mob and the emperors) and take total power.

Yep. And their former US employers need to be handcuffed to them.

They get ONE chance to board the bus peaceably. The refusers will get a new job building the border fence
that they will be thrown over when finished......... The pay is not so good though. On the “up side” they get to work
alongside their former US employer. he will be supervising them.

"Any analogy with the civil rights movement of the ‘60’s doesn’t cut it. African-Americans were American citizens who had suffered under the oppression of slavery and segregation. This is basically a movement of foreigners who came to this country illegally to enjoy the benefits of this country that they couldn’t get at home."

You're correct, but your logic will not dissuade Gutierrez, and the left in general, from trying to claim similarity.

They tried it with gay rights and Democrats in Congress, and the media, proclaim the false equivalence.

Don't forget that one of the main reasons for the DREAM Act is also votes. VOTES. Democrats have been using easy third-world immigration as a method for staying in perpetual power since the early 20th century, when Italians, Poles, Jews and Russians were let into the USA via Ellis Island -- very controversial, but legal at the time. Democrats with socialistic tendencies have ALWAYS viewed immigrants as a source for votes against big business capitalists; also because the third world immigrants of past years (Italians, Jews, Poles, Russians) were viewed as having much greater tendencies to believe in wealth distribution, much less socialism and communism.

They were right, in a sense. While Italian-American and Polish-Americans have not stayed in the Democratic camp, Jewish-Americans have; plus, their descendants today are among the most leftist, socialistic members of American society. [I'm not meaning to offend any Freeper of Jewish origin, but this is an observation I just have to make, and it's supported by polls.] If you want a small example, just look at today's Supreme Court. Of the four leftist members, three are Jewish (Ginsburg, Breyer, Kagan) and the fourth is a Hispanic. Bet you've never heard anyone mention that left-leaning Jews are waaaaay overrepresented on the SCOTUS compared with their percentage of the population (3%).

But American immigrants, after the 3rd generation, continue to defy Dems. They become centrists or conservatives. So the Dems continue to ruin our cultural fabric by throwing in people from any hellhole on earth, even Outer Mongolia, in order to get votes.

Why? Because in reality they recognize the obvious -- that Americans will never become a socialist state without some amount of cheating or tilting the deck.

Is Civil War II coming?

Will this kind of chaos be the trigger?

Americans have really had enough. Real Americans, that is, not the parasites. They will bend with the wind.

Ya. Loo-ees Gutless fancies himself a cross between Cesar Chavez and Simon Bolivar.

He’s neither. He’s a bad re-incarnation of Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Who all will remember was the ego-maniacal Dictator of Mexico, but thought he was the Latin version of Napoleon.

He got his azz kicked too, just like Napoleon did.

But, by a smaller force of Texans...... Heed that.... Luis.

I think taking amnesty to the streets might have a backlash effect, at least with a large majority of citizens.

There is no similarity in my mind to the integration of black citizens into the culture and the introduction of illegal immigrants into the same culture as “citizens on demand.”

Where would that end?

I am not for going after the employers.

I mean do you really want to be held responsible if it turns out your lawn guy is an illegal? cause I don't.

I hire people every now and then to do odd jobs, and I don't have a clue about them beyond their ability and willingness to do some manual labor for a few bucks.
