EARTHQUAKE 3D is driven by USGS data feeds, so if USGS doesn't have it, it won't show up on EARTHQUAKE 3D.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Something sure shook things up about 45 minutes ago (looking at the Albuquerque chart and it reads ten minutes ago with a last update about 35 minutes ago).

It is clearly on the Eastern (”this”) side of the International Date Line and its on the Eastern side of the 180 meridian. Even the western most Aleutians, west of the 180th meridian, are on the east of the IDL, since it jogs west to keep them with the rest of Alaska.

I live in Alaska and work in the Emergency Services sector.
I havnt heard a word about this. There is nothing on the USGS/AEIC site and no alert at the Pacific Tusnami Warning Center.
No hospitals are on alert for the reported injuries.
Someone is really confused!

This might be one of the "Multi-quake/Infrastructure Destroyed" hits, since it's in English-speaking geography and is around the 8.0 marker.Looks like a false alarm. Nothing on USGS.

I meant miles measured along a great circle route. In this case precisely 1609 meters, since my software works in meters, I lazily divided the result by 1609.

There is no settlement on Kiska. It is administered by the National Park Service as I recall, and certainly no mine

Maybe it hasnt actually happened yet?Another timeslip caused by the LHC.
Sorry.
Looking at EARTHQUAKE 3D, the whole Aleutian Island thing is rocking and rolling.

Also- eighteen Freepers would’ve slapped it into ‘breaking news’ without looking to see if it was already there yet. :-)

Been checking real time seismographs in the alaska area - nothing, not a burp in near-by stations. A 7.9 should be rocking the house.

Wanna see Earthquakes around the whole world, all at once?
Go here http://www.wolton.net/quake.html
Download the program (very short download, and it’s free)
Run the program.
EARTHQUAKE 3D, with tons of controls, spin the planet around, zoom in/out, change the features shown. See patterns in the Earthquakes you can’t see on any other graphic display of earthquakes.
IT’S AWESOME.
This quake isn’t showing yet on Earthquake 3D either.
