Da Vinci Code? Tiny Numbers and Letters Found in Mona Lisa Painting
The Blaze ^ | 12/13/10 | Jonathon M. Seidl

It appears Mona Lisa, who has been captivating people for centuries, just got much more interesting. Art detectives have discovered that one of the world’s most famous paintings contains small letters and numbers put there intentionally by Leonardo Da Vinci:

Hidden in the dark paint of her pupils are tiny letters and numbers, placed there by the artist Leonardo da Vinci and revealed only now thanks to high-magnification techniques.

Experts say the barely distinguishable letters and numbers represent something of a real-life Da Vinci code.

The revelation could have come straight from the pages of Dan Brown’s best-seller The Da Vinci Code, in which the Mona Lisa is said to contain hidden clues about the Holy Grail.

Dan Brown is an anti-Catholic jerk. I find it hard to take seriously any article that begins by citing his lousy fictions.

Maybe he was such a brilliant mind, he invented a time machine and transported to the future - acquired a gadget - and then zipped back and stuck it in there?

Maybe on one of his trips to the future he read The DaVinci Code, and now he’s played a practical joke on all of us?

The Doctor Who episode "City of Death" covered this already. However, instead of numbers and letters in the eye, the canvas had "THIS IS A FAKE" written in magic marker and then painted over. The other 6 original copies were destroyed in a fire in Paris....

You mean all that these scientists used for high magnification, was a magnifying glass? Seems odd that no one thought to use one until now?

How do you know that they weren’t part of her eyes, and he just painted it as he saw it?

"What paint brush did he have back then, that could write that small? My thoughts exactly "

The Book of Kells contains many pages of knotwork that are visible only under magnification not known to have existed at the time of their production. Da Vinci came along some 500 - 1000 years later.

You can see letters and numbers in just about anything if you put your mind to finding letters and numbers. Mona Lisa’s eyes look the way they look because that’s how his painting model looked that day and that was how her eyes looked. They didn’t have eye makeup back than all that much, so her eyes just looked natural, no lipstick so her lips looked natural.
