One of the reasons we hear about The Beatles so much is that their story is incredible. If you know their story just compare it to any other rock band, no competition.

I don’t know about that. This morning I was listening to this guy on WABC radio called Crummy or something (I’d call him Crappy) and he was actually making fun of Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” rendition. There will always be people who don’t understand the past; but there will always be keepers of the flame who will never let the greats of yesteryear die.

While your wife may not know the name of George Harrison I’m sure she’s heard of the Beatles, right?!

Not too many people know it, but on the original negative the boys were walking from right to left, and later the LP cover designers decided to reverse them using photoshop.

Yes, the same way I've heard of Stephen Foster. A mark of an era, maybe a couple of noted tunes, but nothing more.

"later the LP cover designers decided to reverse them using photoshop."

I'm pretty sure Photoshop didn't come out until the very early 90's...

Sorry, kiddo, but Stephen Foster was one of America’s greatest composers. Just had the pleasure of seeing a play in which “Hard Times” was sung. Reduced me and the audience to tears. A genuis who died in total poverty but obviously not forgotten by 21st Century audiences.

That being said, I knew this thread would bring out the Beatle haters.

I don't hate the Beatles as a group, during their time they were great.

What ticks me off tho is the accolades that have been thrown on the individual artists John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr after the Beatles. Individually they were hacks with nothing noteworthy being produced by themselves but because they were "Beatles", they were still idolized......

I equate the "after Beatles" to Elton John after his break up with his major song writer Bernie Taupin...........The only thing Elton and the Beatle remnants have is their "oldies"........

I excuse Paul McCartney because he has maintained his own song writing and production career with new stuff that has been pretty good.

My 24 yr. old son just bought the newly released complete collection of all Beatles CD’s. He then downloaded every song into his laptop.
