Could the NFL now stand for “No Fun League”?

It sure sounds that way in the eyes of many Philadelphia Eagles fans when the Sunday evening NFL game between the Eagles and the Vikings got canceled and moved to Tuesday evening, a first since 1948 for two pro football teams to play.

Has the NFL not only become the "no fun league" but also "the wimps who stole Christmas" from Eagles fans?

3rd consecutive week weather has screwed up a Vikings game... I’m guessing that has never happened before in the No Fun League... dome collapse - move to Detroit; last week moved outside in MPLS, and now this.

I can remember when they were big and strong enough to play outside.

I was VERY disappointed to hear of the postponed game.

NFL games are NEVER supposed to be canceled or postponed because of weather. They play the games, no matter what.

I’m not liking what I’m seeing lately. Penalties for good hits, and postponing games due to weather. Damn, just put skirts on them and be done with it.

Not good.......

What's with the “Mama's boys”? The Patriots, Bears and the other cold weather teams never cancel!

Well they already make them wear pink for a month, so I'd say they're almost there already.

Can you imagine Dick Butkus wearing pink cleats? Can you imagine Lombardi's Packers postponing a game due to bad weather? Or refs penalizing Deacon Jones every other play for "roughness"?

The mayor declared the state of emergency and “asked” (with force of law) people to stay off the streets after 2PM. Should the NFL have said “ignore your mayor, come to the game”?

Well, they could have still played the games with nobody in the stands. It would have looked like a normal Raiders home game then :)

Raiders still sell out, would have looked like a Jags game.

Had a discussion with my wife regarding the cancellation. Told her football is played no matter what the weather(with the exception of lightning ) She was adamant about the safety of the players and the fans. I tried to inform her that the conditions of the field add to the intensity of the game. The players are Gladiators. Finally some news reader reported on what the mayor of Philly said, calling them wussies at which she relented and agreed with me( odd how it took a democrat to convince her)

That just shows what a complete moron the mayor of Philly is. He declares the state of emergency and asks people to stay home then has the $%^^& to criticize the NFL for following his advice?! Once he declared a state of emergency the NFL’s hand was forced, no matter how much they look at the weather and say “we’ve played in worse than this” if one single fan has a weather related injury (like from a car accident) the PR storm of having the game in a state of emergency would be a nightmare. You can’t have a game in the middle of an emergency, no matter how much of an “emergency” it is.

That really ticked me off with the pink thing. The NFL ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I agree. I remember watching the Ice Bowl, my father was a die-hard Green Bay fan.

I would like to know how much snow was on the ground at midnight, about the time the fans would be driving home if the game was held. Any Philly folks know?

Some series juju goin’ on for the Vikes this year, for sure,

They are becoming a part of NFL history in ways fans would prefer not to witness.. I remember them from their birth .. it’d be a shame seeing them move to LA or London.. Please move the Raiders or the 9ers instead. ;-)

They need a retractable roof stadium owned by the state and Vikes.. or sumthin’.. as liberal as the state has become, it’s time they put their dough where their mouth is.. just do it!

Yesterday in Chicago it started snowing during the first quarter, the snow was coming down hard, and the fans started cheering the snow. It was just a little lake effect snow and very quickly let up, but hey! In Chicago we’re not afraid of snow, what’s with Philadelphia?
