This is a Committee of Correspondence. Those are necessarily somewhat transient, the more so in the face of an immediate threat. If you lose contact, just keep your eyes and ears open. We'll be out there.

Still is, but you now pay for the service.

You did not understand my post.
The poster has not filled out anything on his Homepage. Chances are the person does not receive or respond to anything from the State Board.
Now I understand that in a large state it is difficult to get to know your State FReepers, but it is helpful to at least identify your State.
Got it? Good.

We have a group of about 12 people who will be taking HAM radio classes together coming up in January.

I am still working on this myself. I have been apart of groups such as the Protest Warriors in my state though. Some TEA party activity as well.

But I know I would love to become better associated with Freepers in my state (NJ) or general area.

I still haven’t filled out my home page though either. Would love to meet fellow FReepers and stay connected on important issues in my area.

Though I am actually living in PA right now, I am still mostly a NJ FReeper.

Three and one-half years into the tribulation, the Obamanation that causes desolation will set foot into the temple in Jerusalem and desecrate it.

Usenet was always internet based (if you also count its precursor, ARPAnet).

It is possible to route TCP/IP over Ham radio on various bands using packet radio technology; this was being done already 25 years ago. Therefore, hooking Ham radio LANs to the internet was possible in principle. However, the bandwidth was too low, IMHO, to be useful.

A possible future apocalyptic scenario could see nets using unauthorized low-power short-hop point-to-point microwave links. There would have to be adaptive routers to handle the constant appearance and disapperance of the nodes in the network.
