"Put me in Charge..."
http://www.blackshards.com/ ^ | 12-12-2010 | Alfred W. Evans 1SG, USA(Ret)

Alfred W. Evans’ letter to the Waco Tribune Herald....

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks to cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test all recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke, or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your “home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you to do. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good”.

I like it. This is the solution. Right there.

But people will accept this only after a monumental collapse of what we have right now.

Sadly, he's never heard of the black market. These programs allow college students to buy cheap stuff for cash, which is then used to buy Ding-Dongs and who-knows-what-else.

Maybe better than most programs, but he still needs to do some thinking.

This may sound good to some, but it presents a very steep and slippery slope.

This part puts it straight in the crazy bin.

I like it! And anyone who thinks it’s “demeaning” or damaging to their “self-esteem” is more than welcome to start their own charity and collect money for these folks. But they can keep their filthy mitts out of MY pocket!

Hard to argue with a single thing mentioned.

Cell phones—pagers—& other excesses can also be eliminated.

how much worse than the current system?

Where you can buy 200 bucks worth of water bottles on food stamps, dump them all on the street, then return the bottles for 5 cents each to buy a pack of cigarettes

How much worse could this plan be?

This Shirt’s got it absolutely right. And mandatory military service wouldn’t be a bad thing to throw into the mix. Heinlein had a great idea in “Starship Troopers”.

For real?

Steep and slippery slope to solving the problems IMHO.

That part is the toughest part... but you go on welfare you should NOT be allowed to have more children that you can’t afford.

You MUST name the father(s) of all your existing brood who will pay child support and sweep street or dig ditches for jobs if they have to.

I think he meant that women on public assistance have no business having babies. Want kids? You and baby daddy get married and one of you get a job.

“...Yep...forced sterilization is a very slippery slope.”

Maybe you didn’t read this part...

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.

If I were in charge, I'd force every Senator and Congressman to live in a Government Dormatory in DC proper. I'd make them ride to session in a little short schoolbus with helmets, too. I'm so damned disgusted with them, I'd have the friggin' chamber walls padded so the little darlings wouldn't hurt themselves when they careened off the walls spouting some bullshit about 'fair' this and 'fair' that.

Don't ask me what I'd do about the current White House.

Yep...forced sterilization is a very slippery slope.

It isn't forced. It is the option that is necessary to go on the taxpayer's dole. Norplant is not a permanent measure. When they are off of the government's program then they can take it out and have another kid. Norplant or sterilization should also be mandatory for those that have been convicted of child abuse or neglect.
