Well there were lots of "conservatives" and FReepers from Illinois that decided it would be better to vote for the marxist community organizer because he was
their marxist community organizer and not some kook conservative "carpetbagger" OR ANYONE ELSE.

Actually we have Blair Hull’s ex-wife to blame. Or Blair himself, depending on who you believe. Who is Blair Hull. He’s the multi-millionaire who spent 28 million bucks of his own money to run in the Illinois Democratic primary in 2004. He was enjoying a substantial lead over the little known Barack Obama and other candidates until 3 weeks before the election. It was then learned his ex-wife claimed he physically and mentally abused her. His numbers plummeted and Obama won. The rest is history
