Some of the programming like Nova, etc. wouldn't exist without PBS.

Actually it would be on cable. PBS has programs like NOVA because the programs are subsidized with taxpayer dollars and are nearly free for them.

Take away PBS free programming and it would probably be done better by private production companies.

I sure hope it would be done elsewhere. Sitcoms and stupid "reality" shows are the commercial norm.

But you are right, nowadays, people can pretty much choose to see exactly what they want to see.

NPR and PBS need to go. They are totally egregious leftwing spews, mostly.

It already is being done. The Science channel has plenty of shows along the lines of Nova and the quality is comparable if not better.
