And of course the first rock song any learning guitarist tries to play is the House of the Rising Sun.

Became a rock song ... was a folk song for decades prior. First recording of the song is believed to have been in 1933.
Gosh - that does bring back memories.
Kind of a cross between a Moe Howard bowl-cut and a mullet lol
I regard this interpretation’s guitar line to be pure pop genius... I could listen to this song a million times and not get sick of it, pretty much have already lol
He is 69 years old so your chances of him passing through again are not that high.

The breaking point was when I was watching a PBS fundraising telethon that featured late '60s bands and they'd have the old stars re-doing their hits. So its late 2009 and Eric Burden comes on singing House of the Rising Sun, but I just cannot get past enjoying his music when he's proudly wearing a Che T-Shirt.
It's like having Hitler on your shirt. It's sick & depraved. Some folks can abide by the rationalization for these progressive whack-jobs to "just shut-up and sing", but that old favorite song and Burden simply have no appeal to me.
